Director, Investor Relations

Summary AV is seeking an experienced investor relations professional to serve as a strong second leader in the Investor Relations organization. Reporting to the VP/Head of Investor Relations, you will play a critical role in maintaining and enhancing the IR function, refining our equity story, and deepening relationships with analysts and institutional investors during a period of significant growth for the Company in a high‑growth defense‑tech sector.

The ideal candidate thrives in a dynamic, fast‑paced environment and is comfortable communicating with C‑Suite leadership on shaping and influencing the Company story.

Position Responsibilities Strategic Communications & Company Positioning Collaborating with the Head of IR, CFO, external advisors and other C‑Suite executives, the ideal candidate will enhance our company narrative and better define our competitive positioning. The candidate will also effectively organize and support non‑deal road‑show preparation, including drafting management scripts, Q&A preparation, and coordinating logistics across multiple geographies.

Board of Directors and CEO Communications Supporting the Head of Investor Relations, the ideal candidate will assist in providing reports to the Board of Directors on a quarterly basis regarding investor sentiment, sell‑side analyst reporting, share price performance, industry and peer company performance updates and trends.

Investor Targeting The ideal candidate will help design targeting strategies to expand our investor base and engage with new audiences. Track shareholder ownership changes and maintain detailed profiles of current and prospective shareholders to inform targeting and engagement strategies. Work with our surveillance team to better understand investor base, trading dynamics and communicate findings to the Head of IR and CFO.

Investor Engagement & Relationship Management Help support and manage day‑to‑day relationships with sell‑side analysts and buy‑side investors. Coordinate earnings releases, quarterly earnings calls, site tours and meetings, and investor conferences. Develop responses to investor inquiries and maintain an active non‑deal road‑show calendar. Maintain our CRM system and investor targeting database to support increasingly sophisticated outreach.

Financial Communications Lead the development of investor presentations by coordinating with marketing for support, develop earnings scripts, assist with earnings press releases and investor related media advisories. Review all external press releases to ensure they are accurate and consistent with our messaging, and compliant with regulatory requirements. Collaborate with finance, legal, and marketing teams to maintain messaging discipline across all stakeholder audiences.

Sell‑Side Analyst Monitoring and Market Intelligence Monitor AV analyst reports, peer company reports and developments. Provide insights on investor sentiment, competitive positioning, industry and broader market trends.

IR Process Management and Improvement Maintain and continuously look to improve IR policies, procedures, and workflows. Build cross‑functional relationships with finance, legal, marketing, corporate development and business unit leaders to ensure seamless information flow.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills & Experience)

5‑7 years of experience in investor relations, equity research, investment banking, or buy‑side investing; public company IR role experience is a plus

Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with ability to translate complex business and financial information into clear, compelling narratives

Strong attention to detail

Understanding of SEC regulations, Reg FD, disclosure requirements, and public company governance

Strong financial acumen and ability to model business drivers and build projections

Proven ability to build relationships with institutional investors and sell‑side analysts

Experience with IR technology platforms (CRM systems, earnings call platforms, investor targeting tools)

Bachelor’s degree required; MBA, CFA, or similar credential preferred

Strong Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word skills; experience with data sources including FactSet

Physical Demands

Ability to work equally well in an office environment or in an at‑home environment

Required to sit and stand for long periods; talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard (Frequent)

You must live within commuting distance of an AV office; a partial list is included in this job description.

Preferred locations are Los Angeles, CA and Washington DC, and we will consider other locations.

Salary Range $163,000 – $239,925

ITAR Requirement This position requires access to information that is subject to compliance with the International Traffic Arms Regulations (ITAR) and/or the Export Administration Regulations (EAR). Applicants must qualify as a U.S. person (U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, or protected individual such as a refugee or asylee). Current U.S. citizenship may be required for some positions due to contract requirements.
