Position Summary

The Director of Development provides strategic leadership for the school’s fundraising and revenue generation initiatives. Reporting to the Chief Advancement Officer, this role leads the development function, oversees donor cultivation and solicitation strategies in partnership with the CAO and Head of School, institutes stewardship strategies, and directs the execution of fundraising programs aligned with institutional priorities. The Director exercises significant independent judgment in establishing fundraising goals, analyzing donor data, directing team members, and implementing strategies that drive philanthropic growth in support of the school’s mission. Key Responsibilities

Lead and execute the overall fundraising strategy, establishing annual goals and revenue targets across giving programs Develop and cultivate donor pipelines for annual giving, major gifts, planned giving consisting of new and current families, alumni, alumni parents, grandparents, foundations, and corporations Analyze donor data and giving trends to develop targeted cultivation and solicitation strategies that translate into increased philanthropic support Monitor fundraising dashboards and performance metrics, ensuring accuracy in reporting for the Chief Advancement Officer, Head of School, and Board of Trustees In partnership with the Chief Advancement Officer, oversee the Development Committee, prepare agendas, and provide regular strategic updates Assess and develop annual prospect lists and strategically distribute portfolios for cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship among the CAO, Director of Development, and development staff Build and maintain relationships with major gift prospects, personally managing a portfolio of high-capacity donors Lead planned giving initiatives and long‑term donor engagement strategies Partner with the Chief Advancement Officer and Chief Operating Officer on stewardship of endowment donors Oversee the planning and execution of signature fundraising events to ensure alignment with revenue and engagement goals Direct, mentor, and evaluate development team members, providing leadership, accountability, and professional growth support Implement industry best practices to strengthen and streamline development processes, systems, and workflows Monitor fundraising performance throughout the year and implement strategic adjustments to meet or exceed goals What We’re Looking For

Demonstrated expertise in fundraising strategy, major gift cultivation, and donor solicitation and pipeline development Strong financial acumen and the ability to interpret and present fundraising metrics and reports Experience overseeing development operations, systems, and CRM platforms Ability to analyze donor data and translate insights into actionable fundraising strategies Leadership and personnel management experience, including supervision and performance management Strong written and verbal communication skills, particularly in donor‑facing environments Knowledge of planned giving vehicles and endowment stewardship practices High level of discretion in handling confidential donor and institutional information Fluency in Apple software, Raiser’s Edge, Google Suite, and Blackbaud
