is seeking to fill a unique position with the right candidate, who will support both CEF of RI and CEF of CT in this role. The successful candidate must have a heart for reaching the children of both states with the Gospel and establishing a sustainable ministry for the long term.

Child Evangelism Fellowship Inc.

The Assistant State Director for CEF of Rhode Island, Inc. will be responsible for fulfilling the purpose of Child Evangelism Fellowship Inc., executing the vision of the state board and USA Ministries, while assisting the State Director.

Assistant to the State Director must:

Be a born‑again believer who feels called by God to the ministry of child evangelism and to the specific role of non‑profit, ministry leadership

Possess leadership qualities as found in 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1.

Have a demonstrated love for Jesus Christ and prayer, and a passion to reach children with the Gospel.

Have prior and proven leadership and executive ability, i.e., the ability to organize and delegate the execution of the plans and accomplish objectives, coordinate, appraise, administrate, and handle public relations

Be able to assist the state director to mentor, cast vision, and evaluate all aspects of state ministry.

Be able to think both strategically and tactically and execute accordingly

Have applicable experience – successive roles in CEF, including as a local director of a CEF chapter

Ideally, be able to communicate effectively not only in English but in Spanish (both written and verbal).

General

Fulfilling the purpose of Child Evangelism Fellowship®.

Executing and accomplishing the vision of the state board and CEF®

Assist the state director in fundraising activities by building relationships with churches, organizations, businesses, and individuals.

Following policies and procedures of CEF USA and the state organization.

Ministry

Understand that the foundation of ministry is prayer and lead by example in being committed to developing, implementing, improving, and growing an effective prayer program throughout the state.

Pursue and speak with churches, Christian businesses and other ministries regarding God’s love for the next generation.

Aggressively pursue the primary ministries of CEF (Good News Club®, 5-Day Club®, and Christmas Party Club®) through continual promotion within the sphere of their influence.

Maintain a minimum level of direct ministry with children to maintain an understanding of today’s child and to adequately evaluate the effectiveness of CEF programs in the state.

Serve as developer and leader of the summer ministries program for both CT and RI, including in the Christian Youth in Action® training program as a next generation recruitment tool for future leaders.

Serve as developer and leader of inner‑city ministry to children in cities such as Providence, Hartford, Bridgeport, and New Haven.

Trains volunteers and staff as needed to conduct children’s ministry.

Leadership

Assist state director in creating the annual strategic plan and budget for the state office to support current and future ministry opportunities.

Adhere to and be instrumental in implementing the annual strategic plan.

Take the lead in developing new areas, rolling out new policies and providing guidance as needed.

Regularly meet and work with all established local committees in providing vision and strategic plans for reaching and discipling all children within the chapter, striving to connect them with local churches.

Assist staff in developing and evaluating their ministry goals.

Assist in shepherding all ministry workers, paid and volunteer, through regular communication, encouragement, etc.

Assists and/or leads the delivery of training for volunteers, staff, and churches.

Administrative

Back up the state director and fill in when director is out of office.

Attend all meetings and conferences requested by the state director.

Perform administrative duties as assigned by the state director.

Additional Information

There are approximately 932,000 children under the age of 18 in Connecticut and Rhode Island combined, with the majority having not heard the Good News of Jesus.

CEF of Rhode Island and CEF of Connecticut are two separate state chapters but the same staff serves both chapters, with a common board of directors.

CEF of Rhode Island and CEF of Connecticut both do not have physical state offices. All staff work remotely from their homes.

The successful candidate will be expected to be based in Rhode Island or Connecticut.

Frequent travel is required to meet with potential ministry partners, volunteers, and donors throughout both states. Use of a personal vehicle is reimbursed by miles driven.

This position is eligible for a ministerial housing allowance as a portion of total compensation, subject to completion of 12 weeks of
