
Senior Sustainability Analyst

The Senior Sustainability, Energy, and Compliance Analyst is responsible to support the Company’s sustainability and energy management efforts through advanced analysis of large energy datasets, technology‑enabled analytics, regulatory and compliance support, and transaction‑level due diligence reporting.
This position is highly analytical and execution‑focused with a strong emphasis on leveraging Power BI, Microsoft Copilot, and agentic AI workflows to improve data quality, insights, and operational efficiency across the Company’s real estate portfolio.
Energy Data Analytics & Management
Aggregate, clean, validate, and analyze large, complex energy datasets across the Company’s real estate portfolio, including utility, benchmarking, and third‑party data sources.
Perform detailed quality control, normalization, and reconciliation of energy consumption and cost data to support reporting, compliance, and audit readiness.
Maintain clear, well‑documented data structures, methodologies, assumptions, and controls related to energy data management.
Use
Power BI
to develop and maintain dashboards, visuals, and analytical outputs that support portfolio‑level energy performance analysis and decision‑making.
Technology‑Enabled Analytics (Copilot & AI)
Drive continuous system and process improvement to streamline sustainability data collection, management, and reporting requirements.
Integrate multiple data sources into a business intelligence platform to assist with data‑driven decision‑making.
Leverage Microsoft Copilot and agentic AI tools to streamline data analysis, reporting workflows, documentation, and internal responses related to energy and sustainability.
Support the development of repeatable, scalable analytics workflows that combine structured energy data with AI‑assisted insights.
Partner with internal teams to explore opportunities to improve efficiency, consistency, and insight generation through automation and AI‑enabled tools.
Energy Management & Compliance Support
Assist with tracking and supporting compliance with energy‑related regulations and building performance standards across applicable jurisdictions.
Support energy benchmarking, disclosure, and regulatory reporting by preparing data inputs, analyses, and supporting documentation.
Monitor evolving energy and sustainability requirements and help assess potential impacts to the Company’s portfolio.
Coordinate with internal stakeholders and external consultants to support energy compliance workflows and data requests.
Due Diligence & Transaction Support
Support acquisition and disposition due diligence by analyzing historical energy data, identifying data gaps, anomalies, or potential compliance and performance risks.
Prepare energy‑related diligence materials, summaries, and responses for internal review and transaction documentation.
Assist in maintaining consistent energy data assumptions and methodologies across transaction workflows.
Reporting & Cross‑Functional Support
Provide analytical support for sustainability and energy‑related reporting efforts, including internal disclosures and third‑party requests.
Respond to internal data requests and ad‑hoc analyses related to energy performance, compliance exposure, and portfolio trends.
Prepare clear, concise materials that translate technical energy and data insights into actionable information for internal stakeholders.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in sustainability, engineering, environmental science, data analytics, finance, or a related field.
Experience in a corporate sustainability related role, preferably with experience in energy analytics, data analysis, real estate, or a related analytical role.
Strong experience working with large datasets; advanced Excel skills required.
Hands‑on experience with
Power BI
for data modeling, visualization, and reporting.
Excellent analytical and quantitative skills; ability to work with large datasets and use hard data and metrics to back up assumptions and evaluate outcomes; ability to visualize data effectively to draw conclusions and educate broader groups.
Familiarity with energy management concepts, energy data, benchmarking, or compliance frameworks.
Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and written communication abilities.
Certified Energy Manager (CEM) designation is preferred.
Experience leveraging Microsoft Copilot or other AI‑enabled tools for data analysis, reporting, or workflow automation.
Experience supporting real estate portfolios or transaction‑level analysis.
Exposure to energy or sustainability reporting, regulatory compliance, or audit‑ready documentation.
This position is based in our San Diego (Del Mar Heights) headquarters. Monday through Thursday are in‑office for collaboration, with the opportunity to work remotely on Friday.
The pay range for this role is $75,994 - $93,537 - $118,608.
