About Float Float Studio is a small interior architecture and design studio based in NYC. We work across workplace and commercial interiors, with a hospitality driven approach and a big focus on the details that make a space feel intentional. Our team is small, friendly, and tight. We care about doing great work without burning people out. We are looking for someone who is calm, organized, and genuinely enjoys supporting a small team.
The Role We are looking for an Intermediate Interior Designer who is highly organized and detail oriented to support the studio across active projects. This role supports project teams across all phases of design, from programming and concept through construction administration and installation.
Because we are a smaller studio, project needs shift week to week. Some weeks may require focused drawing updates and technical coordination. Other weeks may lean into sourcing research, presentation production, or internal documentation. The role requires someone comfortable moving between design tasks while maintaining a high level of precision.
This is an in person role. You will assist with site visits, and installation days as needed. We are looking for someone who understands that strong interior design depends on both thoughtful design work and disciplined follow through.
What you will do Programming
Conduct site surveys and draft existing conditions in Revit
Perform programming research
Design & Documentation
Develop space plans, furniture layouts, and interior elevations that support overall design intent
Conduct concept design research and assist with concept moodboards
Manage FF&E specifications including furniture, finishes, and materials
Prepare and coordinate interior design documentation including plans, elevations and schedules

Project Management
Lead small projects or collaborate with design team on medium to large projects
Manage project budgets and schedules, tracking and updating continuously
Communicate project progress and updates to clients regularly
Set up and maintain files for new and active projects
Keep the process moving so decisions do not stall
Presentations & Coordination
Assist in preparation of client-facing materials including presentations, floor plans, mood boards, and schedules
Coordination with contractors, architects, subcontractors, and vendors
Manage individual deliverables and workflow within larger project schedules and communicate any conflicts to the design team
Deliveries and installation support
Help coordinate deliveries, including confirming delivery windows and access requirements
Support installation days as needed, including assisting with punch list follow up and vendor coordination after install
Studio Standards
Gain familiarity with and uphold the firm’s brand guidelines, resources, and standards
Preferred Experience
5+ years of experience in residential, commercial, or hospitality design preferred
Professional degree in Interior Design or Interior Architecture (BFA, BS, BID)
