Director, Transition Process Team Leader
As part of Baker Tilly's Managed Services offering, the Accounting & Finance Services (AFS) Transitions team helps new clients stabilize financial operations, implement cloud accounting systems, and design scalable processes. We focus on project-based work that sets clients up for long-term success before they transition to recurring service teams. The Director, Transition Process Team Leader, provides strategic oversight for enterprise-wide delivery of new client engagementsfrom diagnostic assessment through onboarding, system implementation, process design, and transition to recurring services across all platforms, geographies and industries. This role drives quality, consistency, and operational excellence through standardized methodologies, performance management, and disciplined project execution to ensure profitable, high quality outcomes and seamless client experience. Leadership & Governance Establish and maintain transition standards, workflows, and best practices. Oversee team performance to ensure timely, accurate, and consistent delivery. Serve as an escalation point for complex accounting, process design, and client reporting issues. Manage resource allocation, utilization, and team efficiency. Promote consistency and standardization in scope, timelines, enterprise pricing, and quality standards across engagements, minimizing customization. Assessment & Solution Design Conduct structured client assessments to identify objectives, risks, system requirements, and reporting needs. Translate assessment findings into clear, actionable project plans. Review transition plans for quality, accuracy, and adherence to firm standards. Implement quality-control measures to mitigate risk and ensure accuracy. Onboarding & Technology Implementation Oversee account cleanup, data migration, workflow setup, and baseline reporting. Identify and implement efficiency and automation opportunities. Lead standardization efforts to improve onboarding consistency and client experience. Support system integration and configuration across multiple accounting platforms. Provide authoritative guidance on GAAP and related accounting principles. Quality & Risk Management Establish risk-identification, escalation, and mitigation protocols. Maintain compliance with firm standards and quality-assurance checkpoints. Maintain clear phase-exit criteria for smooth transitions to recurring services. Facilitate knowledge sharing, training, and development for team members. Methodology & Standardization Develop and maintain onboarding playbooks, templates, tools, and KPIs. Ensure consistency across regions, teams, and industry pillars. Stakeholder Engagement Partner with practice leaders and business development to align delivery with client expectations and commercial objectives. Collaborate with the Transitions Technology Team Leader on system and workflow decisions. Provide transparent, consistent reporting on progress, risks, and financial performance. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field; CPA strongly preferred Minimum 12 years of experience in accounting and client onboarding/ implementation leadership Extensive experience in CAS or managed accounting services, including multi-platform ERP implementations Deep knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and Managed Services operations Proven ability to design and implement scalable accounting processes Demonstrated success managing multiple complex projects simultaneously Experience leading successful distributed teams and driving quality, efficiency, and profitability Strong relationship-building and advisory capabilities The compensation range for this role is $182,150 to $345,330. Actual compensation is influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to skills, experience, qualifications, and geographic location.
