Northrop Grumman Aeronautics System Sector is seeking a Director Industrial Engineering 2 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals within our Industrial Engineering Organization (IE) & Operations Management (OM). This position is located in Palmdale, CA, San Diego, CA or El Segundo, CA. Must be willing to travel as needed.

The primary focus of this job will be to leverage IE and OM principles, with continual operational efficiencies to drive business results. You will be challenged to solve complex business and manufacturing problems by developing strategic and memorable recommendations for solutions that reduce costs, increase profitability, enhance performance, and transform operations. You will be responsible for a team of IE & OM that supports all programs (sector wide). You will have the responsibility of working side by side with Operations Directors/VP and program managers by developing tools to help achieve all business targets, which will include the following responsibilities:

Key Responsibilities

Sourcing key engineering and technical talent to ensure success of the program goals

Oversight of the team accountable for integration and utilization of common facilities, capacity analysis, integration of resources and implementation of improvement initiatives across the program

Working in concert with other functional homerooms and shared service organizations to coordinate, direct, and support the continuous improvement of people, products, processes, systems, and services

Oversight of projects and tasks assigned across program to ensure quality, schedule and cost are achieved

Providing direct supervision and management of employees from technical, manufacturing, and administrative areas to ensure business targets are met

Creating long range planning & strategies for the operations team (eg: staffing forecasting, rate change planning, execution strategy of new initiatives, pull ahead strategies, line balancing assessments, EAC / Budget forecasting)

Basic Qualifications

Must have a Bachelor’s degree AND 14+ years’ experience in one or more of the following: industrial engineering, engineering management and/or process engineering OR a Master’s degree AND 12+ years’ experience in one or more of the following: industrial engineering, engineering management and/or process engineering

Must have at least 10+ years of management experience.

Experience leading recovery plan/program re‑scheduling

Experience developing and implementing Shop Operating Plans (SOPs)

Must have an active DoD Secret clearance and the ability to obtain Special Program Access (PAR).

Preferred Qualifications

STEM degree

Experience working with lean manufacturing principles and operational efficiencies.

Understanding and significant historical application of Lean, Six Sigma, and other Industrial Engineering methodologies.

Knowledge and experience with executing process standards and risk management identification and mitigation.

Track record and passion and relentless drive for achieving manufacturing and operational results, financial results, and effective and timely decision making.

Proven ability to clearly articulate messages to a variety of audiences with professional poise and business maturity

Excellent ability to quantify impact and manage cost controls to meet negotiated cost reduction objectives.

Expertise in understanding and mitigating risks to business operations

Primary Level Salary Range: $220,100.00 - $330,100.00

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
