Cybersecurity Intern (Secret Clearance Required)
Position Overview
JHNA is seeking a motivated Cybersecurity Intern currently pursuing a degree in Cybersecurity or a related field. This role is designed for a junior-level student with an active Secret clearance who is interested in hands‑on experience with modern security tools and operations.
The intern will support security operations by working with Microsoft Defender and Microsoft Sentinel, assisting in vulnerability management, and helping analyze and respond to security alerts.
Key Responsibilities Security Monitoring & Analysis
Monitor security alerts and incidents using Microsoft Defender and Microsoft Sentinel
Review and triage alerts to identify potential threats or false positives
Support investigation of suspicious activity and document findings
Vulnerability Management
Help identify, track, and prioritize system vulnerabilities
Assist with remediation efforts and validation of fixesMaintain vulnerability tracking documentation and reporting
Security Operations Support
Assist in developing and improving detection rules and alerts
Support log analysis and correlation across multiple data sources
Documentation & Reporting
Document procedures, findings, and incident response actions
Assist in creating reports for internal stakeholders
Maintain clear and accurate records of security activities
Learning & Development
Gain hands‑on experience with:
Microsoft Defender for Endpoint
Microsoft Sentinel (SIEM/SOAR)
Security incident response processes
Participate in training and mentorship opportunities

Required Qualifications
Currently enrolled as a
Junior
in a Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or related degree program
Active Secret Clearance (required)
Basic understanding of:
Networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, etc.)
Operating systems (Windows preferred)
Cybersecurity principles (threats, vulnerabilities, risk)
Preferred Qualifications
Basic scripting knowledge (PowerShell or Python)
Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
