Position Summary We are seeking an experienced Interior Designer to join our Kalamazoo team. This role is responsible for all aspects of the interior design scope of architectural projects, from early planning through construction administration.
The Interior Designer will collaborate closely with architects, engineers, consultants, and clients to develop interior environments that are functional, durable, and responsive to user needs—particularly within healthcare and educational settings.
This is a salaried position offering flextime (based on a four-week cycle) and competitive compensation and benefits.
Key Responsibilities
Participate in projects from pre-design through construction administration, including Programming, Schematic Design (SD), Design Development (DD), Construction Documents (CD), and CA
Lead and contribute to interior programming and space planning
Develop and coordinate material selections, finish palettes, and color schemes
Prepare interior specifications and documentation
Assist with furniture, furnishings, and equipment (FF&E) planning and specification
Coordinate interior design efforts with architectural and consultant teams
Engage with clients to understand goals, needs, and operational requirements
Contribute to a team-oriented studio culture focused on quality, innovation, and continuous improvement
Position Traits The ideal candidate will demonstrate:
An eagerness to learn and collaborate within a multidisciplinary team
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Excellent customer service skills
A proactive attitude with strong attention to detail and organizational abilities
The ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Interior Design
Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in interior design
Experience working across all phases of architectural projects
Software Proficiency Fluency or working knowledge of the following software is beneficial:
AutoCAD
Revit
SketchUp
Bluebeam
Adobe Photoshop
Adobe InDesign
Adobe Illustrator
