Rose Community Foundation originated from the 1995 sale of Rose Medical Center, founded by the Jewish community in the late 1940s at a time when Jewish doctors and doctors of color were denied hospital privileges elsewhere due to discrimination. Since itsinception, the Foundation has granted more than $450 million to nonprofit organizations and initiatives in the seven-county Greater Denver region and beyond.The Foundation has $433 million in total assets under management, with annual grantmaking and distributions of nearly $30million – roughly $11 million of which are the Foundation’s annual discretionary grantmaking dollarsandapproximately$10 millionof whichare granted from donor-advised fundsto nonprofit organizations of their choosing around the state, country and world.
SUMMARY Rose Community Foundation seeks a Director of Collaborative Philanthropy to oversee and advance the Foundation’s giving circle initiativesand other collaborative giving efforts. The Director of Collaborative Philanthropy is a strategic, relationship-orientedand highly collaborative leader whofacilitatesmeaningful donor engagement while advancing effective and inclusive philanthropyand enhancing the culture of philanthropy in our region. The Directorof Collaborative Philanthropyis a member of the Philanthropic Services team, which supports the Foundation’s donors and fundholders, while fostering philanthropic partnerships, fundraising campaigns, nonprofit endowment development, and giving circles.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Oversee the strategy,budget,and implementationofthe Foundation’s giving circle initiatives:RoseYouthFoundation,Roots& Branches Foundation,Generation Now CircleandRose Women’s Circle, including but not limited to:
Overseethe program design and meeting facilitation forall giving circle initiatives
Managememberrecruitmentand selection processes
Oversee thegrantcyclesfor eachgiving circle initiative;provide guidance and advising togiving circles,including issue and grantee research
Maintainfocus on values-based philanthropy andawareness of evolving philanthropic practices and issues affecting the Greater Denver regionto share with giving circle participants
Build andmaintainrelationships with initiative alumni,growing alumni engagement programmingand workingwithappropriate PhilanthropicServices team memberstoidentypotentialnext steps for involvement with the Foundation
Support the Foundation’s goal to reachnew and diverse donorsthroughcollaborative philanthropy programsand donorengagement events
Collaborate across departments to incorporate knowledge,relationshipsand funding opportunities from other aspects of the Foundation’s work into giving circle work,asappropriate
Continuously evaluate the success of collaborativegiving circlesandmake recommendations for improvement, expansion, etc.
Partner withtheCommunicationsDepartmentongiving circlecommunications and marketing materials
Lead otherlimitedcollaborative giving opportunitiesthat may arisefor Rose Community Foundationstaff,donorsor partners
Other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY The Director of Collaborative Philanthropy reports to the Chief Philanthropy Officer. The Director of Collaborative Philanthropy supervises the Philanthropic Initiatives Coordinator.
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS Required
Bachelor’s orassociate’sdegree, or equivalent life and work experience
A minimum of sevenyears of experience incollaborativedecision-making,communitygrantmaking,or a closely related field
High levelof facilitation skills includingunderstanding and managing group dynamics,fostering inclusive conversations, incorporatingtools andmaterials,andleadingcollaborative decision-making for large groups
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
An affinity forrelationship-basednonprofit work including donor and partner stewardship
Ability to read and interpret nonprofit budgets and financial statementsand comfort with quantitative and qualitative data analysis for program evaluation
Excellent organizational, project management, and time management skillswith the ability toprioritizeand trackagainstmultiple deadlines and deliverables with attention to detail and accuracy
Proven ability to work autonomously to manage a portfolio of work, while also collaborating effectively as part of a team
Technologically adept withproficiencyin Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams)and theability to quickly learn new systems and technology, including customer relationship management (CRM) databases
Ability to work evenings and weekendson a regular basis.
Preferred
Experience leading giving circles
Experience building or managing alumni networksandrelated engagementstrategies
Knowledge of Greater Denver’s Jewish communities and key nonprofit organizations
Understanding ofcommunity foundations and their role in place-based philanthropy.
