Job Overview We are seeking a self‑motivated Court Clerk to perform clerical work for the Division of Workers’ Compensation (DWC) and collaborate closely with the Office Services Supervisor II (OSSII) to manage case assignments.

Responsibilities

Examine and evaluate legal documents such as case openings, pleadings, and other correspondence for the Disability Evaluation Unit (DEU), workers’ compensation judges, and court personnel.

Meet with the public to answer questions and assist with filing documents related to the Labor Code, regulations, and court rules both in person and via telephone.

Collaborate closely with the Office Services Supervisor II (OSSII) to manage case assignments.

Work within a smoke‑free DWC office equipped with LED lighting, controlled temperature, and office equipment.

Retrieve and transport legacy box files safely.

Telework two days per week and work in the Oakland district office for the remaining three days.

Qualifications

Minimum typing speed of 40 words per minute on manuscript or printed typewritten materials with a valid typing certificate.

Meet the minimum qualifications as stated in the classification specification.

Strong initiative and ability to work independently.

Effective and tactful communication skills with the public.

Working Conditions Location: 1515 Clay Street, 6th floor, Oakland, CA 94612‑1519. Office is smoke‑free with LED lighting and a quiet to moderate noise level. Telework is available on two days per week. The building includes childcare, BART, AC Transit, and other amenities within four blocks.
