Overview REAL ESTATE MARKET LEADER position for the I-64 Corridor, spanning from Richmond to Hampton Roads. The successful candidate will drive the growth and prominence of the real estate market within the I-64 footprint. Reporting to the Managing Director, the role involves collaborating with senior market-focused staff, regional leaders, and corporate leaders to develop and implement strategies that enhance VHB's brand and expand its business opportunities. The location is flexible along the I-64 corridor and can be in Virginia Beach, Williamsburg, or Richmond offices. Frequent travel along the I-64 corridor, off-site meetings, clients, and VHB offices are expected.

Responsibilities

Vision and Strategy Development:

Develop and maintain a vision for the real estate growth sector along the I-64 corridor. Create innovative plans to drive growth and new business development opportunities.

Relationship Building:

Develop and maintain strong relationships with staff, clients, and key stakeholders to foster collaboration and alignment.

Program Clients and Initiative Growth:

Lead growth of one or more program clients and initiatives by identifying opportunities and creating plans to capitalize on them.

Business Development:

Identify and secure new business opportunities and maintain relationships with existing clients within the real estate market.

Cross-Market Initiatives:

Partner with other I-64 Growth Leaders on initiatives spanning multiple markets.

Promotional Activities:

Develop and implement promotional campaigns, attend conferences, and participate in networking and industry events to strengthen VHB's brand along I-64.

Market Differentiation:

Identify differentiators and create strategic campaigns to reinforce the company brand.

Strategic Planning:

Develop and communicate a long-term (3-5 year) growth plan aligned with VHB's Strategic Plan.

Team Building and Recruitment:

Support senior staff recruitment and retention efforts.

Key Initiatives:

Lead initiatives outlined in Regional and Local Strategic Plans.

Marketing Initiatives:

Direct and implement marketing initiatives to promote the real estate market along I-64.

Project Engagement:

Participate as Project Executive or Project Manager on high-visibility projects with key clients.

Professional Development:

Engage in development activities aligned with career goals.

Compliance:

Ensure all functions comply with regulations and company policies.

Engage in professional organizations:

Be externally visible at conferences and industry forums to strengthen VHB's reputation.

Change Management:

Implement strategies related to shifts toward innovative technologies and sustainability.

Innovation and Curiosity:

Recognize and implement innovative ideas.

Technical Responsibilities

Project Leadership:

Direct design of high-visibility projects with an understanding of design objectives and construction documentation, including site layout, grading, drainage, and utilities.

Site/Civil Plans:

Oversee development of site/civil plans and specifications for industrial, institutional, healthcare, and residential developments.

Standards and Procedures:

Ensure adherence to design standards, templates, and project documentation procedures.

Quality and Compliance:

Promote continuous quality monitoring and stay updated on regulatory changes and best practices.

Client and Stakeholder Meetings:

Attend meetings with clients, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders to discuss needs and permitting issues.

Skills and Attributes

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in engineering/science/planning; Master’s preferred

11+ years of postgraduate experience in related field with strong external reputation

PE License or equivalent in designated field

Excellent written and verbal communication, including proposals, presentations, and public speaking

Technical proficiency to understand and navigate complex projects

Ability to maintain overview of project and client goals while providing strategic guidance

Solid business management skills: planning, budgeting, risk management

Objective mindset to identify challenges and develop solutions

Knowledge of Virginia regulatory processes and permitting at local, state, and federal levels
