About the Role Join our dynamic team as an Actuary specializing in Personal Lines Auto & Home Pricing. This pivotal role involves leading & owning state level pricing decisions and collaborating closely with business partners. This is a key member of our leadership team, driving a partnership-driven approach.

Key Responsibilities

Lead pricing decisions & ensure alignment with business objectives.

Serve as a mentor and coach to support the career development of the team’s junior actuaries.

Serve as a thought leader on actuarial methodologies, conducting & leading comprehensive analyses & work plans to ensure quality and accuracy.

Engage with business partners to assess and enhance pricing capabilities in the market.

Acts as strategic technical expert of actuarial methodologies allowing the ability to source and manipulate data within standard requirements.

Conduct complex analyses, adhering to actuarial standards, by selecting appropriate data sources, making assumptions, recognizing considerations, and developing recommendations; accountable for resolving unreasonable results
on‑optimal solutions.

Accurately document assumptions, methods, sources and considerations in an organized fashion.

Prepare and present actuarial findings and documents suitable for technical and non‑technical audiences at the OCFO leadership level; may represent company position with regulators, auditors and external vendors and negotiate within defined parameters.

Develop cross‑functional work plans and ensure accurate work product is delivered; identify any additional business partners needed for work‑plan success.

Develop and implement new techniques used in peer reviews; participate in peer reviews to provide expert guidance, collaboration, ensure quality work and drive innovation.

Build strategic business relationships at all levels of the organization to drive solution delivery.

Identify gaps in training for new associates and develop solutions.

Use data‑mining techniques to identify new relationships in data and make recommendations based on findings; possess foundational knowledge of modeling software and ability to use/teach others; expert in predictive modeling; lead recommendation of new software packages that impact long‑term success of PC actuarial.

Operate as corporate leader to advance and influence the strategic direction within Nationwide.

Consult and provide expert advice on new or enhanced product development opportunities, including discussions on data needed for analysis, coding implications, and opinions on viability and profitability of proposals.

May perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

ACAS is required; candidates with FCAS are preferred.

Generally, seven or more years of actuarial experience.

Strong background in pricing and product knowledge; proficiency in SQL and Python are preferred.

Demonstrated ability to adapt to a fast‑paced environment and manage changing priorities effectively.

Job Description Summary Our Property and Casualty (P&C) Actuarial team members have opportunities to use state‑of‑the‑art tools, are encouraged to innovate and learn to master actuarial methodologies. You will provide leadership, direction and oversight for the performance of complex actuarial techniques and procedures and risk analysis. We’ll count on you to provide business recommendations that are crucial to the success of Nationwide and the protection we provide our customers. Recruitment & Salary Nationwide pays on a geographic‑specific salary structure and placement within the actual starting salary range for this position will be determined by a number of factors including the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; the scope, complexity and location of the role as well as the cost of labor in the market; and other conditions of employment. Note on Compensation for Part‑Time Roles: Please be aware that the salary ranges listed below reflect full‑time compensation. Actual compensation may be prorated based on the number of hours worked relative to a full‑time schedule.

The national salary range for Actuary PC: $138,000.00‑$243,000.00. The expected starting salary range for Actuary PC: $138,000.00 – $206,000.00.

Location This position could be filled within any of the lower 48 U.S. states.
