Job Summary Under moderate supervision, performs all editorial functions—which may include copyediting and proofreading—for publications on a variety of topics and with different levels of complexity, from concept through transmittal. Provides editorial support through the production stages to finished product, including coordinating the work of freelance contractors. May assume project management responsibility as team leader on less complex projects.
Major Job Responsibilities Performs a variety of editorial tasks
Prepares manuscripts for transmittal
Proofreads and copyedits material; checks corrections made by freelance copyeditors and proofreaders
Conducts assigned research
Provides project management for print and digital publications of moderate complexity, which includes close collaboration with Production and Design colleagues to establish schedule, track progress against schedule, and report on status
Coordinates editorial work on print and digital publications, which may include communicating with Getty colleagues as well as external authors and freelancers
Qualifications Bachelor's degree in the humanities (preferably in English or Art History); MA preferred
At least 3 years of relevant publishing experience, preferably in either a museum or university press environment
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Copyediting and proofreading skills; knowledge of Chicago Manual of Style
Microsoft Office
Reading knowledge or familiarity with one or more European languages
Familiarity with art history
Excellent organizational and communication skills
