Job Title
Mechanical Designer
Job Description The Mechanical Design Drafter will support the Mechanical Design Engineering Team by creating part/assembly models and drawings, updating existing designs, and assisting with engineering analysis and calculations.
Responsibilities
Create and maintain engineering CAD models and drawings.
Develop component assembly models and assembly plans.
Support changes or troubleshooting with calculations and rationale.
Assist in component and machine testing, including creating plans (written, drawings, schematics), assembling hardware, and running tests.
Assist manufacturing engineering to document processes, design tools, and fixtures as workload allows.
Essential Skills
5+ years of Mechanical Design and/or Drafting experience in a manufacturing environment.
Proficiency in SolidWorks, with preferred experience in PDM.
Experience with GD&T, including tolerances, designs for mechanical systems, sheet metal, and CNC machining for parts with tight tolerances.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience in housing design and documentation.
Skills in 3D modeling and drafting using CAD software.
Work Environment The position is situated in an engineering-driven manufacturing environment that emphasizes close collaboration between engineering, quality, and operations. It involves a mix of office-based engineering work and shop-floor exposure, allowing teams to see designs and process changes through to execution. The culture is fast-paced and team-oriented, with a strong focus on quality, documentation, and process discipline. Leadership is accessible, and decisions are often made locally and pragmatically.
Job Type & Location Contract position based out of Cerritos, CA.
Pay And Benefits The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $60.00/hr.
