Summary:
The Commercial Loan Closing Specialist Sr. is responsible for reviewing and organizing all necessary documentation to finalize complex commercial loan transactions. This includes ensuring accuracy, compliance with regulations, and facilitating involvement with lenders, borrowers, and legal teams. The role requires meticulous attention to detail and a thorough understanding of commercial loan terms, legal concepts, collateral acceptability, and closing conditions. It also entails initiating and driving the loan closing process, managing complex concurrent processes, interpreting deal structures, and resolving outstanding issues with underwriters and relationship managers to ensure timely closings.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide leadership and guidance to deal teams, ensuring cohesion and effective collaboration.
Handle intricate and high‑value commercial loan transactions, demonstrating advanced knowledge of complex financial structures.
Ensure strict adherence to regulatory requirements (e.g., Flood, OFAC) and industry standards throughout the loan closing process.
Address and resolve complex lending issues that may arise, collaborating with stakeholders to find solutions.
Train and mentor junior loan closers, sharing best practices to improve team performance.
Identify opportunities to enhance efficiency and effectiveness in the loan closing process and implement improvements with management.
Engage with clients, lenders, and legal teams to facilitate transparent communication during closing.
Assess and mitigate risks associated with commercial loan transactions, protecting the institution’s interests.
Implement quality control measures to guarantee accuracy and completeness of loan documentation.
Participate in strategic decision‑making related to commercial loan operations, providing insights and recommendations.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree
7+ years of experience in commercial loan closing or commercial loan administration.
Preferred Qualifications:
Strong communication skills with lenders, borrowers, and internal/external teams.
Detail‑oriented, ensuring accurate and policy‑compliant loan documentation.
Excellent time‑management for a large, complex loan portfolio.
Problem‑solving ability, proactively resolving issues and discrepancies.
Strong collaboration with internal and external clients during the closing process.
Technical proficiency with loan management software and related tools.
Adaptability to changes in procedures, regulations, or industry practices.
Exempt Status: Yes (not eligible for overtime pay)
