
Technical Writer/Editor

The Program Translation Team (PTT) is located within the Program Development and Evaluation Branch (PDEB), in the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), Division of Nutrition, Physical Activity, and Obesity Prevention (DNPAO). The PTT is responsible for conducting translation and training activities for DNPAO’s State Nutrition and Physical Activity (SPAN) program, High Obesity Program (HOP), Racial and Ethnic Approaches to Community Health (REACH) program, and Tribal programs. The team provides translation work, including success stories review and feedback, development and coordination of program success snapshots, creation of writing workshops, management of the weekly flagship newsletter (DNPAO Program Digest), strategic assistance in evaluating technical assistance practices, support for developing resources for recipients, event planning, and participation in division strategy workgroups.
We are seeking a full‑time writer/editor to supplement the PTT by providing professional writing and editing services and supporting monthly planning and implementation of trainings.
Task Examples Include
Provide translation technical assistance to PDEB recipients and staff
Review and provide feedback on annual success stories (two per recipient)
Assist in the planning and implementation of recipient trainings (virtual and/or in person)
Develop a minimum of one translation product and/or tool
Develop a minimum of one manuscript for publication
Review and provide technical assistance to recipients in manuscript development of manuscripts for publication; maintain monthly documentation of technical assistance using the CDC AMP system that captures grantee interactions and communications
Qualifications And Education Requirements
Bachelor’s degree with at least 5 years of related experience
High school diploma with at least 9 years of related experience

Strong interpersonal skills
Manuscript/product development and publication expertise
Technical assistance expertise
Experience in training development and implementation
Professional Competencies Preferred
Superb writing and editing skills
Ability to work independently, as well as with a team
Federal Government experience desired but not essential
