Responsibilities The Community Engagement Specialist supports the organization's mission by executing local outreach, relationship-building, and community-facing activities within an assigned region. This role serves as a visible representative of the organization at events, meetings, and community touchpoints, helping to strengthen partnerships, increase awareness of respite care services, and support regional engagement goals. The Specialist works closely with the Community Engagement Manager to ensure consistency in messaging, branding, and outreach efforts across all regions.

Serve as a primary point of contact for community partners, agencies, and local stakeholders within the assigned region.

Attend community meetings, health fairs, outreach events, and networking opportunities to promote organizational services.

Build and maintain positive relationships with schools, service providers, nonprofits, and civic organizations.

Assist with planning and on-the-ground execution of regional events, outreach activities, and awareness campaigns.

Support logistics for tabling events, workshops, trainings, and community presentations.

Help coordinate volunteers, materials, and on-site needs during events.

Represent the organization professionally and positively in public-facing settings.

Share information about programs, services, and resources with families, partners, and community members.

Collect feedback and insights from the community and relay them to the Community Engagement Manager.

Track outreach activities, contacts, and event participation for the assigned region.

Assist with data entry, follow-ups, and basic reporting related to engagement efforts.

Maintain regional outreach materials, inventory, and supplies.

Support organization-wide engagement initiatives as needed.

Assist with special projects, campaigns, or seasonal events (e.g., Back-to-School, Holiday Drives).

Occasionally support events outside the assigned region based on staffing needs.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Communications, Social Services, or related field preferred.

24 years of experience in community outreach, customer service, or public-facing roles.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Ability to engage diverse communities with cultural awareness and professionalism.

Comfortable working independently in the field and as part of a team.

Valid California Driver's License and reliable transportation.

Physical & Environmental Requirements Must be able to travel throughout the assigned region, stand for extended periods during events, lift and transport materials up to 25 lbs., and work in indoor and outdoor environments. Work is performed in community settings, offices, and public venues. Must be comfortable interacting with the public and representing the organization in diverse environments.

Scheduling & Availability Schedule is generally Monday through Friday, with occasional evening or weekend availability required for community events and outreach activities.
