Overview

Under the general direction of the Manager of Programs & Development, the Marketing & Communications Specialist supports the Center for 17th- & 18th-Century Studies and the William Andrews Clark Memorial Library. The Specialist promotes the Center and Clark's research, programs, and events; creates publicity campaigns for academic and public programming and events; develops content and distributes the Quarterly newsletter; advertises Clark fellowships; designs and produces publicity flyers and programs; maintains content for the Center and Clark's website; and manages the Center and Clark's social media. In collaboration with the Director, Assistant Director, Head Librarian, and Manager of Programs and Development, the Specialist contributes to developing a strategic communications plan and calendar of communications for external and internal audiences that highlights Center and Clark programs, research, and achievements. The Specialist collaborates with staff, librarians, faculty, fellows, and students to raise awareness through digital content creation, visual assets, and social media content. They ensure communications align with UCLA brand guidelines, reflecting a professional level of quality and conveying the Center and Clark's brand and visual identity. They track and report annually on the reach and impact of online and social media outreach and other campaigns. In consultation with the Department Technology Analyst, the Specialist coordinates audio-visual needs for in-person and livestreamed conferences and lectures and supports online programming. Position is divided between Royce Hall (UCLA campus) and the William Andrews Clark Memorial Library in the West Adams district of Los Angeles. Ability and willingness to work weekends and evenings as required by academic and public program schedules. Salary & Compensation

UCLA provides a full pay range. 1 year Managing organizational social media accounts (Preferred) 1 year Demonstrated ability to effectively use social media and write for public audiences (Preferred) 1 year Experience with image editing and word processing software (Required) Detailed knowledge of marketing principles, and applying concepts to email marketing, social media, and other platforms (Required) Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively and to follow through on assignments with minimal supervision (Required) Ability to compose, proofread, and edit text for business and publicity communications and materials using the proper grammar, punctuation, voice, and spelling with great attention to detail (Required) Excellent organizational skills sufficient to prioritize job functions and adhere to a calendar of production in order to meet deadlines (Required) Ability to identify problems, develop alternative approaches, offer solutions, and follow through on all details (Required) Working knowledge of the means of promoting academic and cultural programs, including conferences, lectures, arts performances and fellowship programs (Required) Demonstrated skill in graphic design, with practical knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, with the ability to learn new technologies in a prompt and efficient manner (Required) Ability to work at two separate locations, one on campus and the other off campus. Ability to work within fluctuating hours that include evenings and weekends. (Required) Ability to effectively use social media and write for public audiences (Required) Excellent visual media and design skills including graphic design (Required) Ability to conceptualize communications in a strategic way to promote organizational goals (Required) Demonstrated ability to maintain website content using Wordpress or other content management tools (Required) Education, Licenses, Certifications & Personal Affiliations
