Social Media Coordinator and Communications Assistant
The Old Globe, located in Balboa Park, is seeking a Social Media Coordinator and Communications Assistant to join the Marketing and Communications team. Reporting to the Associate Director of Marketing and Communications, this role is a creative and detail-oriented member of the marketing team. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, able to manage multiple deadlines and projects, and possess excellent writing, editing, and communication skills.
This role helps guide The Old Globe’s social media presence across platforms by capturing photos and videos, scheduling and posting content, and engaging with the community online. The position also supports the Communications team by writing social media captions, headlines, taglines, and copy for paid digital ads, as well as proofreading and copyediting other materials. Additional responsibilities include providing support for outside photographers during photo shoots, posting required notices for photo and video b-roll shoots, and assisting with the setup and staffing of community events both on and off campus, including select evenings and weekends.
Key Responsibilities
Together with the Public Relations Associate, coordinate and maintain the social media calendar.
Maintain The Old Globe’s social media channels, including Facebook, Instagram, X, LinkedIn, and YouTube, by scheduling and posting regular content.
Write smart, engaging copy that reflects The Old Globe’s voice and brand.
Proof and approve paid social ads.
Boost select organic posts as requested.
Respond to comments, messages, and mentions to foster community engagement.
Capture photos and videos at photo shoots, first rehearsals, opening nights, and other Globe events.
Work collaboratively with other departments to ensure their work is represented on Globe social media channels.
Provide support for communications-related projects and events as assigned.
Other duties as assigned by the Associate Director and Director of Marketing and Communications.

Job Qualifications
The successful candidate will have the following skills and abilities:
A minimum of one year of professional experience working in social media and content creation in an organizational, nonprofit, agency, or business setting
Basic photography and videography skills using a smartphone
Excellent writing, proofreading, and editing skills
Experience creating and editing short-form social video using Instagram or other editing apps
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment
Ability to coordinate and communicate effectively with colleagues across departments
Strong interpersonal skills, including professional phone and email etiquette
Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
Availability to work select weekday evenings and weekends as required
Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite

Compensation and Schedule
Full-Time position with benefits, including 401(k), vacation, health insurance, and holidays. Pay range is $23.00 - $24.25 per hour. The role requires regular weekday office hours, with some evening and weekend work required to support performances, events, photo shoots, and community activities.
