
Business Development Representative

Compass Technology Group is an employee‑owned engineering firm specializing in advanced electromagnetic measurement solutions for aerospace and defense applications. The Business Development Representative (BDR) is responsible for qualifying inbound demand, advancing routine sales opportunities, and supporting targeted demand generation activities. This role allocates approximately 60% effort to B2B sales development and execution and 40% to marketing and lead generation support.
Key Responsibilities
Serve as primary contact for inbound sales inquiries
Qualify leads based on technical requirements, budget, and timeline
Route complex opportunities to the appropriate resources and independently close routine sales
Maintain CRM data accuracy and pipeline visibility
Support proposal and quoting processes
Track and report pipeline metrics
Design and produce online marketing content, including newsletters, brochures, and promotional emails
Collaborate with management team to create white papers, infographics, and marketing videos
Produce trade show displays and coordinate pre‑ and post‑show marketing activities
Preferred Skills
Experience with long‑cycle consultative technical sales
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong time‑management discipline
Ability to prioritize work and make informed decisions with limited information
Willingness to learn and take on new and challenging responsibilities
Willingness to become proficient in learning new technology to provide accurate information to customers
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities)
Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline (engineering or math preferred), business, or equivalent work experience
2–4 years of experience in a B2B technical sales/marketing role, with a strong portfolio demonstrating skills in campaign development and execution
Experience in B2B technical marketing collateral creation, graphic design, editing, and distribution
Demonstrable experience in marketing analytics and knowledge tools
Positive attitude, detail‑oriented with strong multitasking and organizational abilities
Physical Demands & Work Environment
Ability to lift up to 30 lbs
Work involves both office and laboratory environments
Adherence to safety and regulatory standards is required
Up to 10% travel
