Reports To: Deputy Treasurer Supervised By: City Treasurer, Deputy Treasurer The Account Clerk II performs a variety of administrative and financial duties in support of the City Treasurer's Office. This position is responsible for processing business license applications, renewals, and inspection requests; importing and tracking electronic payments; preparing monthly financial reports; and issuing ordinance violations. The role also provides frontline customer service by assisting walk-in customers, responding to phone inquiries, and processing payments for City services. Education: High School Diploma or GED required Associate's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field preferred Experience: Two years of relevant work experience is required. 24 years of progressively responsible clerical, administrative, or financial experience Experience handling cash, payments, or financial transactions Customer service experience, preferably in a public-facing or government setting Responsibilities of the Account Clerk II include, but are not limited to, the following. Business License Processing Manage the intake, review, and renewal of business license applications Coordinate inspection requests with the appropriate City departments Ensure compliance with applicable ordinances and regulations Payment Processing & Tracking Import weekly electronic payment batches into the City's accounting system Verify accuracy and completeness of all payment data Maintain organized and auditable financial records Financial Reporting Prepare monthly reports summarizing payment activity, license status, and related financial data Assist in compiling reports for internal use and public record requests Ordinance Violations Document and process ordinance violations related to business licensing Support enforcement actions initiated through the Treasurer's Office Customer Service Respond to incoming phone inquiries and direct calls appropriately Provide in-person assistance at the service counter Answer questions, issue forms, and accept payments in a professional manner City Payment Processing Accept, receipt, and record payments for licenses, citations, and fees Ensure proper cash handling procedures and documentation are followed Additional Duties Perform other related duties as assigned to support departmental operations Success Framework (Core Competencies) Knowledge of business licensing processes, municipal ordinances, and regulations Understanding of basic accounting principles and financial practices Strong customer service skills in a government setting Proficiency in accounting and payment processing software Advanced skills in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel High level of accuracy in data entry and recordkeeping Effective written and verbal communication skills Ability to interpret and apply municipal codes and licensing requirements Strong problem-solving skills and ability to resolve routine issues Secure handling of cash and financial transactions Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required Minimum of 2 years of administrative, clerical, or financial experience Experience with cash handling and customer service Preferred Qualifications Experience working in a municipal or government office Familiarity with business licensing or regulatory compliance processes Experience with BS&A Software or similar municipal accounting systems Knowledge of local ordinances, permitting, or code enforcement Experience preparing financial or operational reports Bilingual skills (based on community needs) Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Basic accounting knowledge (receipts, reconciliation, reporting) Strong attention to detail and data entry accuracy Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with the public Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information Strong organizational and time management skills Equipment & Tools Microsoft Office Suite BS&A Software (or similar systems) Calculator, printer, and standard office equipment GIS systems (as applicable) Work Environment This position is primarily performed in an office setting but may occasionally involve exposure to: Temperature fluctuations, noise, or humidity Chemicals, airborne particles, or pathogens Interaction with the public in potentially high-stress situations Physical Requirements Ability to sit or stand for extended periods Perform repetitive hand and wrist movements Ability to grasp, push, pull, and reach Ability to communicate effectively (talk, hear, and comprehend) Visual acuity for detailed work and data review Ability to lift up to 20 pounds This job description does not imply that these are the only duties required of the employee in this position.
