Service Porter
The Service Porter is responsible for moving dealer inventory and customer vehicles. Porters may move vehicles from dealer service drives to repair bays and work with the dealer's detailing department to prepare vehicles traded in or received from auto manufacturers. Porters are also responsible for providing clean cars to customers after the cars have been serviced. Porters must be ready to move any vehicle upon assignment and be able to drive manual and automatic transmission vehicles. An auto porter might have to drive an inventory vehicle to another location, bring one back in return, and act as a general-purpose shuttle driver. Responsibilities include attending all scheduled meetings, knowing and following all federal, state, and local laws and regulations about the job, parking and retrieving vehicles for customers upon delivery and drop-off, safely delivering customer vehicle to customer from storage stall to service drive, providing routine maintenance and cleaning of service work areas as scheduled, and performing other duties as assigned and/or requested. Our ideal candidate will possess a detail-oriented skill, be helpful, have good customer service abilities, be polite and courteous in a cooperative and team-oriented manner, have the ability to identify, comprehend and act on changing requirements, be able to work well under different environment conditions, communicate and understand English and Spanish including reading and writing, have a valid driver license, be able to drive a variety of vehicle types, and have a high school diploma or equivalent. The Service Porter will perform physically demanding work throughout his or her shift. He or she will stand six to eight or more hours per day and may lift equipment weighing from 10 to 75 lbs. He or she may be exposed to dust, exhaust fumes and a variety of hazardous and non-hazardous materials. The driving of vehicles is required. Evening, holiday and weekend work hours may be required.
