Job Description
As the Director, Specialty PCS Obesity & Metabolics, the candidate will lead the development and evolution of global commercialization strategies for select assets in AbbVie's obesity and metabolics pipeline, partner cross‑functionally to launch initial go‑to‑market plans, and support disease area strategy development, investment evaluation, and commercial due diligence.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead global commercialization strategy across assigned pipeline assets
- Direct Brand Strategy Team (BST) to develop commercial strategies, early brand plans, and forecasts.
- Partner with US specialty commercial leads, Asset Strategy Team (AST), and other stakeholders to provide commercial perspectives on asset strategies and governance.
- Drive development of an initial go‑to‑market strategy within Obesity
- Analyze obesity space, map patient journey, and identify GTM channels and options.
- Collaborate cross‑functionally to design and pilot initial GTM obesity strategy.
- Assess prioritized disease areas and execute specialty portfolio pipeline strategy
- Develop prioritized disease area strategies and identify future opportunities.
- Partner with Search & Evaluation and Business Development to pursue opportunities and support commercial due diligence.
- Support development of early brand plans and market analyses
- Lead market analysis, define value drivers, growth opportunities, product positioning, and revenue potential.
- Prioritize leverage points and develop behavioral objectives for stakeholders.
- Develop scientific platforms for target product claims and label generation.
- Identify critical success factors and close gaps for successful launch.
- Build relationships with internal/external partners and serve as commercial voice within disease area, asset, and development teams.
- Lead global commercial team as Pipeline Commercialization & Strategy Director, aligning market needs with asset opportunities.
- Develop global brand strategy and global geostrategy, collaborating with clinical development, medical affairs, regulatory, and AST.
- Lead Touchpoint process with BST/VAT and IMCO to gather feedback on commercialization and access strategies and development plans.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Experience in pharma, biotech, or consulting firm required.
- 10+ years of successful experience in pharma commercial/marketing and/or consulting.
- Previous director‑level commercial development, pipeline management, or marketing roles.
Preferred
- Advanced degree (MBA, Ph.D.).
- Experience in specialty therapeutics.
- Experience working with external experts.
- Strong analytical and strategic marketing skills.
- Financial acumen with understanding of P&L drivers and SG&A investment.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Experience with matrix‑based teams and project management.
- Proficiency in MS PowerPoint and Excel.
- Self‑starter who proactively drives projects to completion.
