Executive Director – Advancing a Healthier Wisconsin Endowment (AHW)

Position title: Executive Director, Associate Provost and strategic leader for AHW. Affiliated with the Medical College of Wisconsin, located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Overview

Lead the Advancing a Healthier Wisconsin Endowment, one of Wisconsin's largest health philanthropy assets. Oversee strategy, partnerships, programming, grants, and philanthropy, including stewardship of funds and oversight of grant expenditures. Work closely with MCW leadership to advance Wisconsin's health priorities through impact‑focused, statewide investments.

Responsibilities

  • Provide overarching leadership for AHW’s strategy, partnerships, programming, grantmaking, and philanthropy.
  • Steward the Endowment’s assets, ensuring accountability, transparency, compliance, and strong governance.
  • Guide grantmaking and pilot initiatives across research, education, policy, public health, and community initiatives.
  • Build and nurture partnerships with payors, health systems, governmental entities, philanthropy, and community organizations.
  • Lead strategic convenings and generate forward‑thinking solutions to Wisconsin’s most urgent health challenges.
  • Collaborate with institutional leaders to advance MCW’s academic, research, clinical, and community engagement missions.
  • Engage diverse stakeholders, navigate institutional, political, and regulatory environments with insight and tact.
  • Act as an influential driver for statewide innovation, ensuring transformative, high‑impact impact.

Qualifications

  • Eligibility for MCW faculty appointment and terminal degree (MD, PhD, DO, or equivalent).
  • Proven experience in academic medicine, health philanthropy, implementation science, research, or public health, with a track record of strategic execution across education, clinical practice, research, and community health.
  • Dedication to systems‑level improvement and community partnership.
  • Demonstrated ethical leadership, consensus‑building, and impact‑oriented communication skills.
  • Strong relational, collaborative, and stakeholder‑engagement abilities.
  • Experience navigating institutional, political, and regulatory environments.
  • Commitment to diversity, inclusion, and equity principles.
