Koch Specialty Plant Services (KSPS), a Koch Engineered Solutions Company, is looking for a Commercial Strategy & Sales Director , to grow and develop our American sales, estimating and contracting capabilities. This role will report to the President for the KSPS business and will be based at our Houston, Texas location .
KSPS is the industry expert in installation, inspection and technical project services for tower, vessel, combustion, and mass transfer equipment in the refining and chemicals industry. We enhance plant operations by delivering a comprehensive suite of services that span the planning, execution and completion phases of construction and turnaround projects. This helps reduce downtime and maximize efficiency for peak performance, creating value for years to come.
This high-visibility leadership role will require a candidate with a strong customer focus, excellent economic thinking and communication skills, and demonstrated performance in a business leadership role, developing team capability and growing profitable business.
What You Will Do In Your Role
- Lead and coach the sales, estimating and contracts teams: create a vision, set goals, and define a strategy for achieving established objectives while continuously improving the team's talent position
- Align each employee's abilities and interests with value creating opportunities consistent with the business vision
- Understand market conditions, industry trends, and business operations to inform business sales strategy development for profitable growth
- Work effectively across the business to achieve business results
- Maximize gross sales margin across the Americas, including establishing profit targets, pricing strategies, and forecasting
- Monitor the performance of commercial activities using key metrics and adjust the work of the team to create maximum long‑term value
- KSPS Leadership Team Member: advance the vision, implement strategies, and drive a PBM culture across the organization
Requirements (Basic Qualifications)
- Proven leadership capability inclusive of successful change management, talent development and accountability; experience hiring and developing talent to achieve business results.
- Demonstrated ability to develop a point of view regarding business growth and go-to-market strategies that influence/engage cross functional teams to execute the strategy and deliver results.
- Demonstrated capability to construct mutually beneficial relationships and structure bids/deals accordingly - assessment of customer needs, intelligence gathering, bid development and strong economic thinking.
- Knowledgeable in evaluating the performance of commercial activities through data analysis.
- Demonstrated expertise of cross-functional leadership with business operations, finance, sales and marketing tactics and market conditions.
- Ability to quickly grasp technical concepts and understand complex technical and program interdependencies.
What Will Put You Ahead
- Experience in field services and/or experience working in the refining and petrochemical industries.
- Applications of Principled Based Management (PBM) in a leadership role within a Koch company to drive transformation.
- Experience developing strategic sales plans across a matrixed organization with results measured through effective metrics.
