Sailing Director

Meydenbauer Bay Yacht Club, bellevue, wa, United States


- Hire, train and manage staff for 10 week summer camp

- Lead a staff training day the Saturday before the first week of camps

- Compile, approve and submit timesheets from instructors every 2 weeks

- Available to be on-call for instructors during summer camps

- Available to work on camp registration day (March 1)

- Assist set up of summer camp registration on Active

- Send reminder email to enrolled campers the week before camp

- Complete or outsource powerboat, sailboat maintenance projects

- Order replacement parts as needed

- Order T-Shirts for Senior Instructors

- Facilitate Dock Moving and Boat Set-up at the start and end of each season

- Communicate as needed with YS Chairs and Meet with the MBYC YS Board

- Provide feedback, recommendations and updates to YS Chairs

- Any other duties as assigned by YS Chairs

- Coach race team from Mon to Thurs: Spring, Summer, Fall Seasons (100+ days)

- Set up and communicate Team Regatta Schedule for the year

- Coach area weekend regattas from April to November

- Set up Race Team registrations on Active for practice and regattas

- Send monthly Team Email Updates to race team sailors, parents and YS Chairs

- Participate in regional planning meetings for NWYRC and Milfoil scheduling

- Recruit new sailors to join the race team

- Plan and communicate regatta logistics including club boat use, towing club trailers and report times to attendees to YS Chairs

- Submit reimbursement reports to bookkeepers for travel regatta expenses

- Hire Assistant Race Team Coach if needed for practice or regatta support

- Mentor sailors to become future instructors

- Order Team Gear T-Shirts and any additional items

- Organize and run MBYC YS’s annual Milfoil regatta in July and Bay Bash Regatta in October

- Organize an end of season celebration at MBYC

Required Certifications:

- Washington State Boater Card

- First Aid and CPR Certification

- Safesport Certification

Reports to: MBYC Youth Sailing Chairs

Director Responsibilities:

- Hire, train and manage staff for 10 week summer camp

- Compile, approve and submit timesheets from instructors every 2 weeks

- Available to be on-call for instructors during summer camps

- Monitor and respond to email queries from email

- Available to work on camp registration day (March 1)

- Assist set up of summer camp registration on Active

- Send reminder email to enrolled campers the week before camp

- Complete or outsource powerboat, sailboat maintenance projects
