Role Overview
We’re seeking a future team member for the role of Vice President, Product Owner to join our Wealth Services Platform team. We especially welcome product professionals who bring deep expertise in investor, investment, or wealth management products and platforms, and who are passionate about shaping the future of financial services. This role is located in Jersey City, NJ or New York, NY.
Key Responsibilities
- Defining and prioritizing product backlog, collaborating with stakeholders to gather requirements, and working closely with development team to ensure the successful delivery of the product.
- Managing the product backlog and near‑term roadmap ensuring that it is properly refined, prioritized and groomed.
- Fostering cross‑functional collaboration and ensuring delivery of high‑impact solutions aligned with business objectives and client needs.
- Owning user stories, refinement process and stakeholder management (ongoing collaboration and updates).
- Writing and contributing to specifications for features, using best practices.
- Negotiating the implementation of current work, making the right trade‑off decisions to launch products in a high‑quality manner, and escalating to management as necessary.
- Identifying and triaging issues with specific features, while understanding how multiple features are interrelated to capture more complex problems.
- Defining proper measurement and instrumentation for a product to analyze results post‑release/launch.
- Partnering with manager to make recommendations on the right next steps for the feature.
- Assessing the quality of existing UX to make recommendations on how to improve user experience.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
- 3+ years of product experience.
- 3+ years of financial services industry experience.
- Experience with managed accounts, portfolio construction, and/or portfolio management required.
- Experience within a B2B wealth management technology firm, broker dealer, or registered investment advisor (RIA) strongly preferred.
- High degree of proficiency in OKR, Design Thinking, Event Storming, prototyping, iterative development, Scrum, and Agile product development.
- Strong data‑driven decision making, prioritization frameworks, and cross‑functional collaboration skills.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CSPO, Agile) are highly valued.
- Passion for changing the status quo and driving out‑of‑the‑box ideas.
- Strategic mindset with the ability to translate business needs into technical solutions.
- Experience with agile methodologies, product management tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence), and data visualization platforms.
- Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Curiosity and drive for continuous learning and improvement.

- Organized, resourceful, and able to prioritize tasks.

Benefits
BNY offers highly competitive compensation, benefits and well‑being programs. The base salary for this position is expected to be between $83,000 and $185,000 per year at the commencement of employment. Compensation may also include commission earnings, discretionary bonuses, short‑ and long‑term incentive packages, and company‑sponsored benefit programs. The company also provides paid leave, paid volunteer time, and other supporting benefits.
