ENL Director Job Description
Facilitates communication between the department, administration, and teachers. Plans with administration and facilitates efforts to improve student achievement. Collaborates with the Building Leadership Team (BLT) to communicate the Mission and Vision to all stakeholders. Maintains confidentiality and respects privacy in all aspects of this position.
Attend regularly scheduled District and Building Facilitator meetings. All Facilitator Meeting dates with building and district administrators will be shared prior to September 1.
Facilitate the monthly meetings using the Professional Learning Community (PLC) model.
- Develop monthly meeting agendas.
- Submit completed minutes to colleagues and building administration.
Facilitate ongoing review, update, and alignment of curricula to meet current New York State Learning Standards.
- Provide recommendations as necessary.
- Be the contact person for the department to help with vertical alignment.
Work in conjunction with building administration and colleagues to plan and organize professional development to meet building needs.
Support building administration with all aspects of state and local testing, as assigned.
- Interpret and analyze all local and state test data.
- Report findings to both department and building level administration.
- Work with building administration to organize testing and materials including testing accommodations for NYSITELL, NYSSELAT, SIFE, 3-8, Regents exams.
Promote a positive school climate through problem‑solving and shared decision making.
Provide evidence to support departmental / grade level budgetary requests that are aligned and support District goals.
Assist colleagues with the dissemination of departmental information, communicating with parents, and hosting parent meetings, when necessary.
Support the Director of Student Services in the following areas:
- Master Scheduling
- NewComer Program
- Updating ENL Numbers per building
- ELL Parent Orientation
Perform all other tasks as assigned by the Superintendent of Schools or his/her designee.

Job Requirements
- Master degree preferred.
- Citizenship, residency or work visa required.
