Role Overview
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Competition Director to oversee our Dance Vision Competition Team. This role includes developing innovative choreography, guiding dancers of all skill levels to achieve their highest potential, and fostering a team focused studio. This role balances leadership, instruction, choreography, and mentorship while supporting student growth and the overall studio culture. The Competition Director plays a key role in shaping performances, curriculum standards, and the studio’s reputation within the community.
Key Responsibilities
Artistic Leadership and Vision
- Uphold the artistic vision and standards of the studio
- Ensure consistency and quality across all programs, levels, and styles
- Select music, themes, and concepts aligned with Dance Vision’s values and brand
Competition Team Curriculum and Programming
- Oversee class structure and progression by age and skill level
- Ensure competition curriculum aligns with technical development, safety, and age appropriateness
- Evaluate and evolve programming to meet student and business needs
- Recruit and manage guest artists and choreographers for workshops and performances
Choreography and Performances
- Create and oversee choreography for competitions and recitals
- Teach weekly choreography and technique classes, run competition team rehearsals, and attend performances to provide feedback and guidance
Faculty Leadership and Development
- Assist with hiring, training, and evaluating teaching staff
- Promote collaboration, professionalism, and artistic growth among faculty
Student Experience and Retention
- Support a positive, inclusive, and motivating environment for students
- Participate in student placement, evaluations, and advancement decisions
- Regularly communicate with parents as needed
- Evaluate and assess the progress of dance students, providing constructive feedback and support
Collaboration and Administration
- Work closely with studio leadership on scheduling, student placement, and program planning
- Contribute to enrollment strategy, studio events, and community outreach
- Manage budgets and resources for dance programs, ensuring fiscal responsibility
- Ensure compliance with studio policies and applicable labor and safety standards
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 to 7 years of dance instruction and choreography experience
- Prior leadership or director level experience preferred
- Strong background in multiple dance styles relevant to the studio’s offerings
- Excellent communication, organization, and leadership skillsi>
- Ability to balance artistic excellence with business and operational realities
Physical Requirements
- Ability to demonstrate or explain dance technique and choreography
- Ability to stand, move, and participate in rehearsals for extended periods
- Ability to move props or equipment as needed
Compensation and Benefits
Compensation: Compensation based on experience and scope of responsibilities. Opportunity for extra income on top of base salary.
