Overview
The Information Technology Services (ITS) Director is a key leader for Duplin County Government, managing a strong team of IT professionals to serve both the organization and the community. The IT Department strives to deliver creative and efficient tools and innovative solutions for our employees. This position works closely with county management, county departmental leadership, outside agencies and community partners, to develop and support innovative technology to securely improve how we do business. Within this position the candidate will be expected to identify the need for and prepare to implement technological changes that will positively impact the operations for the County of Duplin. Success, in part, will be measured by the candidate\'s ability to develop policies that govern information, security and business continuance as well as designing and developing both short and long-range plans related to information technology and consistent with county leadership. Work includes oversight of project management, IT personnel, systems reliability and service delivery. As the leader of the IT Team, communication with staff, leadership and throughout the organization is key. Work is performed under the supervision of the County Manager.
Duties and Responsibilities
Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following:
- Serves as the County’s leader and coordinator for information technology needs and solutions
- Establishes goals and standards related to technology for the organization
- Ensures operational integrity and continuity of services by providing steady and dependable leadership
- Develops strong, supportive relationships with department directors and management
- Continued professional development of skills, ideas, abilities, and knowledge to identify changes and trends in information systems technologies
- Implements best practices, efficiency improvements, and cost savings for the organization through cutting-edge technology
- Coordinates technology purchases and rotations for all county departments
- Develops the annual departmental budget and monitors expenditures throughout the year
- Supervises the employees of the IT department
- Provides oversight to the streaming and technological support of the public meetings of the Board of Commissioners
- Prepares reports and makes presentations as needed
- Oversees the provision of technical assistance to a variety of hardware, software, and systems county-wide
- Financial and Budgeting Responsibility
Responsible for the departmental budget, this budget includes financial and budget responsibility for all of the County’s information technology needs.
