West Coast Ambulance is one of Southern California's leading medical transportation providers, with over 20 years of service to hospitals, health plans, and healthcare facilities across Los Angeles and surrounding counties. We perform approximately 5,000 transports per month and are in a period of significant growth. We are building out our business development function to accelerate new contract acquisition with hospitals, health systems, and managed care organizations.
About the Role
We are looking for a high-performing Business Development Director to lead our revenue growth strategy. This is a high-autonomy, high-upside role for a seasoned healthcare sales professional who wants to own a territory, build long-term partnerships, and earn meaningful compensation tied to the revenue they generate.
The right candidate will have deep relationships in the Southern California healthcare community, experience negotiating contracts with hospitals and health plans, and the drive to independently build a sustainable pipeline.
What You Will Do
- Identify, pursue, and close new service agreements with hospitals, health systems, health plans, SNFs, and dialysis centers
- Build and manage a $3M+ annual pipeline of healthcare contract opportunities
- Negotiate multi-year service agreements with managed care organizations and facilities
- Develop and maintain relationships with hospital administrators, case managers, discharge planners, and C-suite stakeholders
- Represent West Coast Ambulance at industry events, association meetings, and healthcare networking functions
- Collaborate with operations leadership to ensure service delivery meets contract requirements
- Track and report on pipeline activity, contract performance, and revenue attribution
What We're Looking For
- 5+ years in healthcare business development, sales, or contracting
- Proven track record closing $1M+ in healthcare service contracts
- Direct experience with hospitals, health plans, managed care, or NEMT providers
- Strong negotiation skills and experience drafting and executing service agreements
- Active network in Southern California healthcare — relationships open doors
- Self-directed, organized, and results-oriented with CRM proficiency
- Bachelor's degree preferred; relevant experience valued equally
Compensation
- Base Salary: $90,000 – $110,000 depending on experience
- Commission: 1% of gross revenue from new contracts (Year 1), 0.5% residual on ongoing contract revenue
- Annual Performance Bonus: Up to 5% of base salary
- Total compensation target: $130,000–$175,000+ at plan; $200,000+ for exceptional performers
