Executive Director
$110,000 annual salary. On-site housing option available with adjusted annual salary.
Responsibilities
Oversight
- Regular meetings with the board, assist in analyzing problems and needs of the camp.
- Regular meetings with board sub‑committees (Facilities, Finance, Personnel).
- Responsible for Executive Director’s Report, Facilities Report, Finance Report, and Personnel Report at board meetings.
- Accountable and submissive to the board.
- May serve on the board while the Executive Director position is held.
- Maintain and uphold written policies and agreements with Rough Acres Foundation, including new building projects (e.g., dining hall/multi‑purpose building) and all facility compliances and regulations (e.g., water system).
- Oversee, support, and evaluate divisional camp directors (Director of Guest Experience, Director of Site Operations, Director of Development).
- Hire and supervise excellent camp staff and volunteers that will work hard and make Indian Hills the best camp it has potential for.
- Recruit, screen, hire, orient, and review personnel.
- Plan and schedule staff training regarding camp policies, procedures, etc.
- Hold and maintain the Mission and Vision of IHC.
- Agree to Organizational Structure.
- Ensure staff living on site follows camp rules and lives together in reasonable harmony.
General Camp Operation
- Assist in coordinating the camp schedule and dates for the year.
- Host rental groups and facilitate “off-season” camping.
- Assist divisional camp directors with counselor and new group/church/school recruitment.
- Be involved with a regular evaluation of all programs, camps, and employees.
- Uphold camp policies and regulations.
Engaging the Community
- Promote usage and rental of camp facility.
- Encourage church and volunteer participation in the camp experience.
- Coordinate maintenance of the website and social media.
- Explore new ways to get groups into IHC.
- Present new ideas for marketing and camp usage.
- Develop ways to activate new donors.
- Make sure IHC has as good of a relationship with the neighbors as possible.
Camp Experience
- Create a team to lead and communicate at camps and programs with excellence and confidence.
- Lead, facilitate, and delegate the ministry and worship for camps that is Biblically sound and transformative for children’s lives.
- Work with staff to develop programs and curriculum that make the most sense to achieve the mission and vision statement for IHC.
Business Management
- Create the financial budget and keep to the budget.
- Maintain and assist development of financial and administrative at‑risk management procedures.
- Oversee all computer network and physical data security.
- Oversee emergency response procedures.
- Oversee county compliance and inspections.
- Oversee and ensure proper internal controls in the areas of AP, AR, and other financial records.
- Minimize camp expenses and increase camp income.
- Manage personnel records, benefits, and employee handbooks.
- Supervise and coordinate overall administrative activities for the office, camp store, and facilities.
- Ensure adherence to written financial policies and procedures with Rough Acres Foundation.
- Ensure adherence to the terms of our Major Use Permit.
Other
- Attend annual camping conference for personal and work growth.
- Be a member of CCCA (Christian Camp and Conference Association) and/or a similar organization.
- Be willing to take classes in leadership and other related subjects.
- Special projects and assignments as assigned or requested.
