Position Description

POSITION TITLE: Executive Director of Student Success
FLSA: Exempt Certificated Administrator
REPORTS TO: Superintendent

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Twelve-month employment (260 days). Salary and work calendar to be established by the Superintendent

Position Summary

The Executive Director of Student Success provides strategic leadership and oversight of the district’s instructional programs, school improvement efforts, and state, federal, and private grant initiatives. This position ensures alignment between curriculum, instruction, assessment, and funding sources to maximize student achievement and organizational effectiveness.

The role integrates instructional leadership with program development and compliance to support equitable and high-quality educational opportunities for all students.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of three (3) years of successful teaching experience
  • Master’s degree in Education
  • Washington State Administrator Certification
  • Administrative leadership experience preferred
  • Demonstrated experience in grant writing, implementation, and reporting
  • Knowledge of instructional best practices and program development
  • Strong skills in data collection, analysis, and presentation
  • Experience managing budgets and compliance requirements
  • Proven leadership, collaboration, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Technology proficiency and willingness to expand skills

Areas of Accountability

  • Provide executive leadership for district-wide teaching, learning, and instructional improvement
  • Lead and coordinate all state, federal, and private grant programs (e.g., Title I, LAP, TBIP, Migrant, Highly Capable, Dual Language, etc.)
  • Oversee district school improvement planning and implementation
  • Align instructional programs with funding sources and compliance requirements
  • Ensure effective use of data to drive instructional decisions and program evaluation
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent

Essential Job Functions

Instructional Leadership

  • Provide vision and direction for the district’s instructional programs and initiatives
  • Develop, implement, and monitor short- and long-range instructional goals
  • Work collaboratively with principals and staff to improve teaching practices and student outcomes
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of curriculum, instruction, and assessment systems
  • Lead district-wide school improvement processes and continuous improvement efforts
  • Identify and coordinate professional development aligned to district priorities

Grants & Program Management

  • Administer and oversee all state and federal programs to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations
  • Develop, write, and coordinate grant applications (state, federal, and private funding sources)
  • Proactively identify new funding opportunities to support district initiatives
  • Ensure proper implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of grant-funded programs
  • Collaborate with administrators, staff, and community partners to support program success

Data & Continuous Improvement

  • Compile and analyze data to inform decision-making and program improvements
  • Use data systems to monitor student achievement and program effectiveness
  • Provide reports and recommendations to the Superintendent and stakeholders
  • Support district-wide accountability systems and reporting requirements

Collaboration & Leadership

  • Collaborate with district administrators, staff, community agencies, and partners to enhance programs
  • Engage families and community stakeholders in supporting instructional initiatives
  • Serve as a member of the district leadership team
  • Support cross-departmental alignment of initiatives and resources

Other Job Functions

  • Serve on district committees and provide reports to the Superintendent
  • Attend School Board meetings and present program updates
  • Participate in administrative team meetings
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Provide instructional leadership coaching to Principals

WORKING ENVIRONMENT: The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some stooping, kneeling, crouching, twisting, and/or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally, the job requires 35% sitting, 35% walking, and 30% standing. The job is performed under minimal temperature variations and some hazardous conditions.
