Who are we hiring?

The Director of Sales is a senior, revenue-driving individual contributor responsible for accelerating advertising sales and sponsorship revenue while unlocking new commercial opportunities for The Sphere. Based in New York City, this role will lead strategic sales efforts across key verticals including Food & Beverage, Automotive, and Healthcare.

The Director will cultivate and expand relationships with C‑suite executives, senior decision‑makers, and agency partners, leveraging a consultative, solutions‑oriented approach to drive high‑value partnerships. This individual will play a critical role in shaping go‑to‑market strategies, identifying growth opportunities, and delivering innovative, integrated sales solutions that align with both client objectives and the Company’s broader business goals.

What will you do?

  • Drive revenue growth through strategic marketing solutions and innovative sales approaches, with a focus on global brand partnerships.
  • Lead the sale of the Exosphere—recognized as the world’s largest outdoor LED canvas—including sponsorship packages, official sponsor naming rights, and bespoke brand integrations.
  • Develop and secure high‑value media and sponsorship partnerships with leading global organizations.
  • Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date activity, pipeline, and forecasting within CRM systems.
  • Partner cross‑functionally with Strategy, Legal, Finance, and Creative to design and execute data‑driven sales strategies that optimize efficiency and outcomes.
  • Maximize effectiveness of client engagement through strategic prioritization of external activities, including events, travel, and in‑person meetings. Build, expand, and leverage a strong external network to identify, prospect, and cultivate new business opportunities.
  • Lead media strategy initiatives that unlock and diversify revenue streams for Sphere Co., while fostering collaboration across the broader MSG family of companies.
  • Consistently achieve or exceed sales quota by actively managing a robust pipeline process and maintaining strong, multi‑level client relationships.
  • Facilitate client entertainment experiences for both prospective and current clients at our venues.

What do you need to succeed?

  • 10+ years’ direct sales experience.
  • Seasoned negotiator and relationship builder (internally & externally) with a proven record of negotiating complex, multi‑product, multi‑year deals that exceed aggressive revenue targets.
  • Extensive knowledge of brand marketing and sponsorship sales, preferably having sold for both traditional and digital‑led ad sales with live events (sports, music) experience a plus.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven cross‑functional leader skilled at building partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with all customers both internal and external.
  • Ability to work independently to troubleshoot and problem‑solve.
  • Ability to adapt to shifting priorities and be open to learning new ways of working.
  • Ability to be a reliable team member, capable of effective collaboration to achieve shared goals across teams and departments.
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization, tailoring the message based on the purpose, audience, and channel.
  • Ability to embrace change with a flexible mindset, even if the way forward isn’t clear.

Sales Incentive Compensation

In addition to the base compensation, this role is eligible to participate in the Company’s FY 2026 Sales Incentive Plan, which is designed to reward individual and team performance against defined revenue objectives.

Quarterly Incentive Structure

  • Eligible for quarterly performance‑based sales incentive awards against annual goals.
  • Incentive payouts are based on progress toward assigned revenue targets and may vary above or below the established annual target amounts based on achievement of targets.
  • Incentives are awarded at the sole discretion of the Company.

Special Requirements

  • Travel (Burbank, Las Vegas and elsewhere) and non‑traditional work hours will be required.
