Head of Value & HEOR
PEAK LIFECYCLES HR - Europe & the US, Boston, MA, United States
PEAK LIFECYCLES HR is a life sciences–focused executive search and advisory firm operating within Cornerstone International Group , ranked among the Top 40 global executive search firms by Hunt Scanlon. We partner with healthcare and biotech organisations navigating complex strategic phases, where leadership maturity, governance discipline and transatlantic execution are critical. Our approach is grounded in anticipation rather than replication, focusing on the executive capabilities required for the next phase of development.
For one of our late-stage biotech clients, we are recruiting a Head of Value Strategy & HEOR (US-based)
The role
This role sits at a decisive moment in the company’s trajectory, as it transitions from late-stage clinical development towards market entry.
The position is based in the United States, with frequent interactions and travel across Europe, reflecting the company’s transatlantic footprint.
The Head of Value Strategy & HEOR will be accountable for shaping the company’s value architecture ahead of launch - not validating it after the fact.
Operating upstream of traditional HEOR, the role sits at the intersection of clinical development, regulatory strategy and future market access across both US and European environments.
It requires the ability to navigate different pricing, reimbursement and decision‑making frameworks, and to build a coherent value narrative that can withstand scrutiny on both sides of the Atlantic.
Key responsibilities
- Define and drive the global value strategy, ensuring alignment between clinical development and payer expectations across US and European markets.
- Translate clinical data into a robust and defensible value narrative, adapted to different access environments and stakeholder expectations.
- Influence clinical, regulatory and strategic decisions to ensure that evidence generation anticipates both US and European access constraints.
- Anticipate pricing and reimbursement challenges across geographies and propose strategic scenarios, balancing speed, evidence requirements and market sequencing.
- Contribute directly to executive decision‑making by framing options, highlighting trade‑offs and embedding value considerations early in the company’s trajectory.
- Act as a connector between US and European teams, ensuring alignment despite different operating models, timelines and expectations.
- Engage with external experts and stakeholders to stress‑test assumptions and refine positioning.
Profile
- 15+ years of experience in HEOR, value strategy or market access within biotech or specialty pharma, with a significant part of this experience gained in late‑stage development or pre‑launch environments.
- Demonstrated track record of building value strategies ahead of market entry, not only supporting reimbursement submissions post‑approval.
- Proven experience operating across both US and European market access frameworks, with the ability to navigate their differences pragmatically.
- Credibility in US‑based environments, including exposure to payer dynamics, pricing strategy and evidence requirements.
- Track record of influencing strategic decisions beyond the HEOR perimeter, in close interaction with clinical, regulatory and executive leadership.
- Experience working in environments with evolving or incomplete data, requiring forward‑looking judgment rather than retrospective analysis.
- Ability to operate in a structuring context, without established processes or large teams, and to influence senior stakeholders with clarity and authority.
- Strong judgment, intellectual rigor and the ability to challenge assumptions constructively.
What this role is not
Not a post‑hoc HEOR or modelling role.
Not limited to dossier preparation.
Not an execution‑only market access position
