A leading general contractor with a strong and growing data centre portfolio is seeking a Project Director to lead the full delivery of large-scale hyperscale and colocation data centre projects across Virginia. This is a senior leadership role with full accountability for schedule, budget, client relationships, and project team performance from pre-construction through handover.
Virginia sits at the heart of the US data centre market and this role offers the opportunity to lead some of the most complex and high-profile critical infrastructure projects in the country.
Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end delivery of data centre construction projects from pre-construction through commissioning and handover
- Own project P&L, budgets, forecasting, and cost reporting across multiple concurrent projects
- Serve as the primary point of contact for owner and client relationships throughout the project lifecycle
- Build, lead, and develop high-performing project teams including Project Managers, Superintendents, and MEP leads
- Drive schedule performance, identify risk early, and implement mitigation strategies
- Oversee subcontractor procurement, bid levelling, and scope management
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and commissioning standards specific to critical environments
- Collaborate with preconstruction and estimating teams during pursuit and buyout phases
- Represent the business in client presentations, project reviews, and pursuit interviews
Requirements
- 15+ years of construction experience with a general contractor, including significant data centre project delivery
- Proven track record delivering hyperscale, colocation, or mission-critical data centre projects valued at $200M+
- Deep understanding of MEP systems, critical power infrastructure, and commissioning processes in data centre environments
- Experience managing large, multi-disciplined project teams across complex programmes
- Strong commercial acumen with full P&L ownership experience
- Excellent client-facing and stakeholder management skills
- Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field preferred
- Based in or willing to relocate to Virginia
