Overview
Georgia Tech is a leading public research university dedicated to innovation, collaboration, and ethical stewardship. The Office of Information Technology (OIT) provides strategic IT, data, and AI leadership to support the Institute’s mission across academic, research, and administrative units.
Responsibilities
- Lead, develop, and execute an institution‑wide digital, data, and AI strategic plan aligned with academic, research, and administrative priorities.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and customer‑experience focused delivery across information technology, data, and AI functions.
- Serve as the executive portfolio leader for technology, data, and AI initiatives, overseeing prioritization, governance, and execution of major programs.
- Partner with academic and administrative leaders to modernize business processes and adopt new ways of working using data‑driven decision‑making, automation, and AI.
- Provide strategic advice on enterprise technology, data, and AI investment, ensuring alignment with institutional strategy, architecture, and resources.
- Oversee performance, quality, and reliability of enterprise technology, data, and AI services, establishing metrics and governance for service levels and business value.
- Develop, manage, and oversee the university‑wide technology, data, and AI budget, ensuring responsible allocation of resources.
- Communicate enterprise technology, data, and AI strategies, policies, and emerging trends to leadership and staff, establishing key performance indicators.
- Establish and oversee enterprise data governance and AI governance, implementing policies for data stewardship, privacy, and responsible AI practices.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum ten years of job‑related experience, including experience managing a staff of technical professionals.
- Experience in a research university setting preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in a relevant field.
- Fifteen years of job‑related experience with at least ten years in a management role.
- Experience leading large, enterprise technical teams through end‑to‑end AI‑enabled product lifecycles.
- Hands‑on understanding of agentic AI development, including agents, workflows, and multi‑model architectures.
- Practical coding literacy and familiarity with modern AI development tools.
- Advanced certification in Microsoft Office 365 ecosystem and enterprise leadership certifications preferred.
- Experience operating in higher education, public sector, or similarly regulated environments.
Skills and Abilities
- Proven ability to translate business objectives into IT initiatives.
- Strong leadership, mentoring, strategic planning, change management, collaboration, and negotiation skills.
- Excellent judgment, analytical, critical thinking, problem‑solving, verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to identify scope, approach, and formulate short and long‑term plans and budgets.
