Role Overview:
The Business Development Director (BDD) is a senior “hunter” role focused on driving net new revenue within the financial services and capital markets sector, including banks, broker-dealers, asset and wealth management firms, exchanges, and fintechs. This individual will be responsible for originating new enterprise clients and expanding into new buying centers within existing strategic accounts. The focus is on building and converting a pipeline for Data, AI, Cloud, Engineering, and Consulting services tailored to the Financial Services industry.
This is a front-end, high-impact role for a proactive, commercially savvy professional who understands the financial services industry and can navigate complex sales cycles with senior stakeholders across business, technology, data, and digital transformation functions.
What You’ll Do
- Drive net-new revenue by acquiring enterprise clients in financial services and capital markets
- Identify and prioritize high-value opportunities aligned with Exadel’s offerings (Data, AI, Cloud, Engineering, Consulting)
- Build and convert a strong pipeline through proactive prospecting, networking, and outbound strategies
- Engage senior stakeholders (CIOs, CTOs, CDOs, COOs, and business leaders) to uncover strategic initiatives
- Lead discovery conversations focused on revenue growth, operational efficiency, risk management, and digital transformation
- Develop and present compelling, domain-driven value propositions tailored to capital markets clients
- Own the full sales lifecycle—from lead generation to negotiation and deal closure
- Collaborate with solution architects and delivery teams to shape winning proposals
- Maintain accurate CRM tracking, pipeline management, and revenue forecasting
- Represent Exadel at industry events and conferences (e.g., SIFMA, TradeTech, CDAO)
What You Bring
- 7+ years of experience in a hunter-focused Business Development or Sales role within financial services, capital markets, or fintech consulting
- Proven success closing large consulting or engineering deals ($1M+ TCV)
- Strong network of decision-makers across financial institutions
- Deep understanding of:
- Trading platforms (OMS/EMS), market data, and analytics
- Data platforms, AI/ML, and cloud engineering
- Regulatory frameworks (Basel, MiFID, SEC, OSFI)
- Digital transformation and modernization initiatives
- Experience selling to technology, operations, and business leaders
- Confidence engaging C-level and Managing Director-level stakeholders
- Strong pipeline generation, forecasting, negotiation, and presentation skills
- Ability to independently originate and qualify opportunities
Nice to Have
- Experience with platforms such as Calypso, Murex, Fidessa, Charles River, or Broadridge
- Prior experience working client-side in financial services
- MBA or advanced degree in business, finance, or technology
Location
New York City – Remote with travel to client sites as needed.
Compensation
- Base Salary: $150,000–$200,000 USD per year, depending on experience.
- Uncapped commission based on performance + Accelerators.
