Overview

This is an external-facing, community relations position responsible for supporting region-led mission capacity building, informing regional leadership of community needs and perceptions, and strengthening relationships across the community by communicating the American Red Cross programs, capabilities, and opportunities for involvement. The role reports to the Regional Chief Executive Officer and works with volunteers and employees to deliver mission fulfillment in the Region and Chapter as a member of the Region Leadership Team.

Responsibilities

  1. Serves as the Face of the Red Cross to maximize presence and connectivity in the community and expand awareness of Red Cross contributions.
  2. Develops sustained community relationships to achieve region mission goals, including revenue targets and mission capacity building.
  3. Develops and manages the chapter board to mobilize support and resources around the Red Cross mission, ensuring board governance and engagement in line with guidance.
  4. Leads and manages community volunteer leaders who represent the Red Cross in assigned territories and supports mission capacity building through key partnerships.
  5. Influences teamwork and inclusion to deliver against the Red Cross mission; communicates community needs and program capacity to the regional team, volunteers, and staff.
  6. Serves as a member of the Elected Officials Liaison Network supporting disaster responses; may be deployed to disasters outside the chapter jurisdiction for up to two weeks.

Qualifications

Scope : Individual contributor with subject matter knowledge and demonstrated leadership.

Education : Four-year college degree (BS/BA) in Business, Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Finance or nonprofit administration or equivalent experience required. Master’s degree preferred.

Experience : Minimum of 5 years related experience with strong judgment, communications, influencing skills, public speaking and writing. Demonstrated ability to develop and implement fundraising strategies and build community relationships. Proven ability to influence others and build partnerships. Management/leadership experience is required.

Other : Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). Knowledge of employment laws (federal/state/local) is helpful. Salesforce knowledge is a plus.

Skills & Abilities : Highly motivated, able to work independently and with an executive team; strong relationship-building and strategic thinking.

Travel : Travel within the communities served and region; may include travel to meetings and conferences, and possible driving. A current valid driver’s license and good driving record required.

Physical Requirements : Standard office environment; ability to sit for long periods, use a computer, and work under challenging conditions as needed.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range for this position is $76,000–$95,000 (Colorado). Salaries are aligned to geographic location and may reflect skills, experience, and internal comparisons.
