Overview

Alumis seeks a highly strategic and execution-oriented Senior Director, Trade Operations to lead the vision, design, and implementation of U.S. trade and distribution models across its dermatology and immunology portfolio. This role shapes how products reach patients and providers through agile, efficient, and scalable access pathways. Reporting to the SVP, Market Access, this position operates as a core member of a lean, high-impact commercialization team. The ideal candidate thrives in a nimble environment, brings a pragmatic and innovative mindset, and is comfortable building strategy from the ground up while remaining deeply involved in execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and execution of U.S. trade and distribution strategies, with a focus on specialty pharmacy and specialty distribution channels.
- Develop nimble, fit-for-purpose distribution models tailored to dermatology and immunology markets, enabling rapid adaptation to evolving payer and patient dynamics.
- Define channel strategy, including specialty pharmacy network design, limited distribution approaches, and wholesaler partnerships where appropriate.
- Partner with the SVP of Market Access and other commercialization leaders at Alumis to assess and implement new concepts for channel strategy.
Strategic Execution & Launch Readiness
- Translate strategy into actionable plans, including partner selection, contracting, and operational implementation.
- Build and implement scalable distribution frameworks to support pre-launch, launch, and ongoing optimization.
- Proactively identify and mitigate channel risks while maintaining flexibility to adjust strategy as market conditions evolve.
Cross-Functional Leadership
- Partner closely with Market Access, Patient Services, Finance, Legal, Compliance, and Supply Chain to ensure coordinated and efficient execution.
- Act as the internal expert on trade and distribution, contributing to broader commercialization and access strategy.
- Collaborate within a small team of senior commercialization professionals, operating with shared accountability and a hands-on approach.
External Partner Management
- Evaluate, select, and manage specialty pharmacies, specialty distributors, and third-party logistics providers.
- Lead distribution-related negotiations in partnership with Legal and Finance.
- Establish clear performance expectations and governance to ensure accountability and high-quality execution from partners.
Market Insights & Optimization
- Monitor industry trends and competitive distribution strategies within dermatology and immunology.
- Continuously refine channel strategy based on payer behavior, patient journey insights, and provider needs.
- Leverage data and analytics to inform decisions and drive ongoing optimization.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in biopharmaceutical commercialization, with deep expertise in trade, distribution, and channel strategy.
- Experience operating in small, agile organizations with limited infrastructure.
- Comfortable navigating ambiguity and making decisions with imperfect information.
- Strong understanding of dermatology and/or immunology markets preferred.
- Launch experience is strongly preferred.
- Proven experience designing and implementing specialty distribution models in the U.S.
- Strong cross-functional leadership skills, with the ability to influence without authority.
- Agile, solutions-oriented leader with a strong bias for action.
- Hands-on operator who leads by doing, not delegating.
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree (MBA, PharmD, or similar) preferred.
The salary range for this position is $270,000 USD to $320,000 USD annually. This salary range is an estimate, and the actual salary may vary based on the Company’s compensation practices.
This position is based in South San Francisco. Local candidates (onsite Tues-Thurs) are preferred. Will consider excellent candidates nationwide if they are willing to travel regularly to South San Francisco.
