Head of Product

Single Grain | Start Growing, Los Angeles, CA, United States

Read This Before Applying

This is a high‑bar product leadership role. We are not looking for a traditional product manager who maintains roadmaps or runs process. We are looking for a product leader who turns customer insight and product data into decisions that move business metrics. Your job is to ensure every sprint moves a metric that matters.

If your experience is primarily: Shipping features without tying them to outcomes; Managing process rather than product decisions; Relying on large teams for research or analytics; Prioritizing opinions over customer behavior then this role likely isn’t the right fit.

Strong candidates for this role typically have: Led product at an early‑stage SaaS company; Improved activation, retention, or monetization through product changes; Run direct customer discovery consistently; Used product analytics tools like Mixpanel or Amplitude; Used AI tools to accelerate experimentation.

What You’ll Do

As Head of Product, you own what gets built and why.

You translate customer insight, product data, and company strategy into a roadmap that drives measurable growth.

Core responsibilities

  • Run weekly customer conversations
  • Analyze product usage and funnel data
  • Prioritize roadmap decisions based on outcomes
  • Improve activation, retention, and conversion metrics
  • Work closely with engineering to ship meaningful improvements
  • Ensure every major product decision ties to customer insight or data
  • Help shape the product strategy for ClickFlow and Revenue Agents

You will not manage engineers day‑to‑day. The engineering lead handles execution. Your role is to decide what the team builds and validate whether it worked.

Success Metrics (First 6–12 Months)

    • ongoing conversations with active, churned, and drop‑off users
  • Signup completion improved

  • Churn reduced
    • monthly churn under 8%
  • Data‑driven roadmap
    • major product decisions tied to customer insight or product analytics
  • Revenue Agents product launched and piloted with early customers.

Competencies

  • Customer‑obsessed
    • You enjoy talking to users and extracting insight.
  • Data‑literate
    • You can independently analyze product funnels and user behavior.
  • Technically credible
    • You can review PRs and discuss architecture tradeoffs with engineers.
  • AI‑native
    • You actively use AI tools in your workflow.
  • Scrappy and fast
    • You thrive in early‑stage environments with limited structure.
  • Evidence‑driven
    • You update your opinions when the data proves otherwise.
  • Strong written communicator
    • You can clearly communicate insights and product decisions.

Anti‑Patterns

This role is not for:

  • The Feature Factory PM
    • Ships features without tying them to outcomes.
  • The Process Architect
    • Over‑focuses on product process rather than product results.
  • The Big Company PM
    • Needs large teams or resources to execute.
  • The Non‑Technical Ideas Person
    • Cannot interpret product data or collaborate technically with engineers.
