Your Role on the Team
Position Summary:
The Director, Supply Chain Management is responsible for the operational leadership, administrative oversight, and day-to-day management of all supply chain functions within the assigned facility or facilities, including procurement, contract management, vendor relations, inventory management, materials distribution, and supply chain analytics across all inpatient and ambulatory settings. The incumbent directs departmental activities to ensure product availability, operational efficiency, cost management, and the uninterrupted supply of materials required to support safe, high-quality patient care in alignment with regulatory, accreditation, and organizational standards. This role includes planning, evaluation, negotiation, and execution of complex supply chain contracts and sourcing initiatives, ensuring fiscal responsibility and financial performance across all assigned supply chain functions at the facility level. The Director leads the development and implementation of department goals, policies, and performance improvement initiatives, and is responsible for selection, onboarding, competency validation, performance evaluation, and professional development of all assigned supply chain coworkers. This position collaborates with clinical operations, nursing leadership, physicians, finance, compliance, and administrative leadership to align facility supply chain priorities with organizational goals and advance cost reduction, standardization, and supply chain continuity. The Director exercises broad latitude of authority with limited oversight in determining department goals and measures to achieve facility-level supply chain management objectives.

Required Qualifications:

- Strong ability to set goals and manage the implementation process for initiatives. Highly adaptable and able to manage multiple priorities.
- Possess the skills, knowledge, and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties.
- Minimum five years of previous work experience managing organizational-wide supply chain activities (procurement, inventory control, purchasing, etc.).
- Interpersonal skills to maintain professional relationships with all levels of staff and coordinate supply chain activities across functions.
- In-depth knowledge of business subjects such as purchasing, inventory systems & controls, and/or accounting.
- In-depth knowledge of the most current materials management best practices and systems.
- Expert Excel skills.
- Excellent skills in organizing, simplifying, and increasing efficiency of processes and procedures while maintaining standards and compliance.
- Experience using an automated purchasing/inventory control system.
- Skill in financial analysis, planning, and administration of a department budget.
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload.
- Ability to interpret data and make appropriate decisions for the organization using that data; knowledge of burn rate, utilization, and forecasting.
- Ability to evaluate conditions of task assignments and make recommendations to improve, revise, or clarify systems, procedures, and policies to promote efficiency in assignments and department operations.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience supervising supply chain activities in a hospital setting.
- Understanding of JCAHO, DHS, and OSHPD regulations pertaining to medical supply storage and inventory control in a medical center environment.
- Tableau knowledge.
- Knowledge of hospital supply items and terminology.
- Knowledge of University and Medical Center organizations, policies, procedures, and forms.
- Knowledge of OSHA and other agency safety regulations.
