Overview
Northrop Grumman, Aeronautics Systems (NGAS) is seeking an experienced business development leader to support the Aeronautics Sector in Japan as part of the NGAS Strategy and Growth team located in Tokyo. The role involves interfacing with Japanese customers, government authorities, and industrial partners, contributing to market growth and capture strategy.
Responsibilities
- This position will be the senior BD representative for the NGAS S&G team in Japan and will have the overall regional responsibility for S&G.
- Supervision and management of the Sector BD Team in Japan, providing leadership, mentorship and overall team goals and objectives for S&G. Develop country-focused training curriculum for BD and Capture Teams.
- Develop, lead and coordinate the Japan S&G objectives, including the development of regional strategic plans and long‑term growth objectives to support the overall NGAS Sector Strategy established by the NGAS Sector President.
- Act as the primary interface for information reporting and coordination between the Japan based team and NGAS senior leadership, the CGBDO and Senior level cross sector coordination between NGAS and other NG sectors on Japan focused efforts.
- Coordinate senior level and general officer in‑country engagements with NGAS and CGBDO leadership to support NGAS captures and pursuits. Provide senior level stakeholder engagement support to NGAS captures in Japan.
- Responsible for Japan pipeline development and developing BAP Phase 0-1 opportunities and strategies into mature captures and pursuits for the NGAS Sector.
- Provide senior level leadership for NGAS and corporate industrial and strategic partnerships. Work to expand strategic partnerships across NGAS programs, captures and pursuits. Manage sector industrial partnership and offset efforts to expand Northrop Grumman reach in Japan.
- Overall responsibility for regional consultants, NGOs and thinktanks to enable and generate long‑term pipeline growth.
- Provide BD leadership and oversight to enable growth opportunities to existing programs in Japan and enable growth opportunities and mission expansion strategies for existing programs.
- Provide oversight and engagement on Japanese political affairs.
Basic Qualifications
- Must have at least a bachelor’s degree and 10 years of related professional/military experience, including international business capture within the aerospace and defense industry; or a master’s degree and 8 years of related experience; or a PhD and 6 years of related experience.
- Ten years of work experience required with Japanese defense or corporate business development.
- Ability to travel internationally as required (minimum 25%).
- Proven international business development and/or capture leadership experience within the aerospace and defense industry.
- Understanding and knowledge of U.S. government and international acquisition/procurement policies and regulations.
- Ability to obtain and maintain an active DoD Secret clearance, within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the needs of the business.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a special access program (SAP) within a reasonable period as determined by the needs of the business.
Preferred Qualifications
- Active DoD Secret or Top Secret clearance.
- Top‑tier aeronautics defense contractor business development or program management experience.
- Well‑versed in the aerospace and defense industry, with deep knowledge of Northrop Grumman’s programs, products, customers and competitors.
- Previous experience with the Japanese or international defense and security, specific experience in the Indo‑Pacific region would be an advantage.
- Strong knowledge of FMS and U.S. export regulations.
- Fluent in Japanese.
- Ability to motivate and energize a team to produce a winning solution.
- Ability to think strategically and develop/implement creative strategies into winning bids.
Primary Level Salary Range: $185,400.00 – $305,900.00.
