Salary Range: minimum $180,000 - maximum $210,000

Position Purpose

The Senior Executive Director of Leadership Development is tasked with developing and implementing comprehensive professional learning strategies for district personnel, with a particular emphasis on enhancing the capacity of school leadership. This position will focus on fostering a sustainable leadership culture within Fort Worth Independent School District by prioritizing in-house development and strategically aligning professional learning with district goals.

Essential Job Functions

  • Designs, implements, and evaluates high-quality professional learning programs tailored to all staff, especially school leaders, aligned with instructional best practices and district priorities.
  • Conducts needs assessments and gathers data from leaders to identify specific professional development needs and gaps in practice.
  • Develops engaging content and resources, including slide decks and training materials, to support the learning objectives established for each session.
  • Plans, coordinates, and facilitates monthly principal meetings, ensuring agendas reflect current educational trends, responsive practices, and issues pertinent to school leaders.
  • Develops and delivers targeted presentations that align with district goals and foster collaboration among principals, encouraging shared learning and problem-solving.
  • Designs and implements meaningful summer professional development and back-to-school professional development, emphasizing preparation for the upcoming school year, launching instructional priorities, and implementing the Fort Worth ISD Instructional Model.
  • Collaborates with district leaders to identify key topics and themes pertinent for summer training, ensuring alignment with the school improvement process.
  • Establishes key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess the effectiveness and impact of professional learning initiatives.
  • Conducts follow-up evaluations and collects feedback from participants to continuously refine and improve professional development offerings.
  • Prepares reports and presentations for district leadership summarizing professional development outcomes and recommendations for future initiatives.
  • Leads the district's leadership academies to cultivate a strong internal leadership pipeline that supports staff in achieving their leadership potential.
  • Creates specialized tracks within the academy for aspiring leaders, focusing on skills necessary for successful leadership roles, including instructional leadership, staff development, and strategic plans.
  • Fosters strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including school leaders, educators, and community partners, to promote collaborative professional growth.
  • Communicates effectively with all audiences regarding professional learning opportunities, ensuring clear messaging and accessibility.
  • Works with district's administration to develop and manage the budget for professional development initiatives, ensuring fiscally responsible practices and alignment with district goals.
  • Explores grant opportunities and other funding sources to support leadership development initiatives.

Performance Monitoring & Reporting

  • Designs, collects, compiles, and analyzes data to evaluate performance analysis; presenting findings to stakeholders.
  • Uses appropriate methodologies, software, and tools to conduct analyses and develop reports.
  • Monitors and tracks progress and completion of professional learning opportunities.
  • Prepares written formative and summative reports that communicate professional learning and leadership academy results effectively; presents results to multiple audiences.Researches topics to build leadership density in a large, urban school system.
  • Prepares presentations and reports for meetings and presentations to the Board.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Selects, trains, supervises, and evaluates staff, and makes recommendations relative to assignment, retention, discipline, and dismissal.

Travel Requirements

  • Travels to school district buildings and professional meetings as required.

Physical & Mental Demands, Work Hazards

  • Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment, including computer and peripherals.
  • Posture: Prolonged sitting and standing; occasional stooping, squatting, kneeling, bending, pushing/pulling, and twisting.
  • Motion: Frequent repetitive hand motions, including keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching.
  • Lifting: Occasional light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds).
  • Environment: Works in an office setting; occasionally requires irregular and/or prolonged hours.
  • Attendance: Regular and punctual attendance at the worksite is required for this position.
  • Mental Demands: Maintains emotional control under stress; works with frequent interruptions.

Minimum Required Qualifications

  • Education:
    • Master's degree in education or a closely related field required;
    • Doctorate degree preferred.
  • Certification/License:
    • Valid Texas Mid-Management and/or Principal Certification preferred.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of three years of exemplary teaching experience.
    • Minimum of four years of successful experience as a principal, director, or other similar district supervisory role.
