We are looking for an experienced community leader who wants to make a difference to serve as our next Executive Director.
General Description
The Executive Director is totally responsible for the management of the Assisted Living and/or Memory Care community. Also, they ensure every aspect of the community is operating in alignment with Franklin's high standards of care, culinary, cleanliness, courteous service, enriching activities, well‑maintained physical plant, and happy team members, within an achievable budget. This role will also be responsible for ensuring the community operates within company policies, and the compliance standards for the state of Georgia as well as all federal regulations.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Internal Community Relations
- Develop and implement community resident relations programs; solicit feedback from residents, families, and others to maintain and/or improve community hospitality and services.
- Establish effective relationships with other community department heads to ensure high‑quality resident care while fostering inter‑departmental cooperation.
- Oversee and monitor nursing services (if applicable) to ensure high‑quality nursing delivery systems.
- Monitor resident care on a daily basis; conduct daily rounds; implement quality assurance programs for all departments.
- Establish positive rapport with regulatory agencies; keep updated on changes in federal, state, and local regulations.
- Oversee facility management of the community.
- Direct community safety and loss‑prevention program; monitor adherence to safety rules and regulations and take remedial action when necessary.
- Contact residents’ families when a change in services is needed. Lead and participate in a resident/family conference to review changes in services.
- Ensure a high degree of customer satisfaction.
- Assist in the development of the residence’s budget.
- Make the final decision on resident move‑ins and move‑outs based on the well‑being of the resident and in accordance with the residence policies and procedures.
Financial
- Plan and develop the operating budget within company guidelines.
- Regularly monitor department performance and analyze the community P&L status, taking corrective action when necessary.
- Train community management in pertinent cost‑control techniques.
- Direct and monitor community inventory control systems.
- Manage all contracted services.
- Create the annual budget for the community.
Marketing
- Maintain a high level of occupancy.
- Provide leadership and direction in the marketing of the community, including developing relations with local referral sources.
- Represent the residence to the community, family members, and visitors and develop positive relations with all customers.
Employee Relations
- Oversee recruitment, selection, retention, and termination of all community employees.
- Ensure adequate and effective orientation and training of community job‑specific duties.
- Supervise and evaluate all community managers by providing ongoing coaching and timely feedback.
- Ensure all employees meet or exceed company standards of appearance, sanitation, and health standards.
- Establish positive employee relations, recognition programs, and practices.
- Oversee and manage community compensation, recommending wage increases and adjustments when necessary.
- Ensure all staff maintains and protects the confidentiality of resident information at all times.
- Provide an open‑door policy to employees and address any concerns and grievances in a timely manner and in accordance with company standards.
- Ensure appropriate handling of on‑the‑job injuries as reported by employees.
- Encourage teamwork and promote company philosophy.
- Be prompt and able to perform the required duties of the position on a regular, predictable basis.
- Be familiar with and understand the requirements of the Life Safety Code.
- All staff is familiar with and understands the requirements of the Life Safety Code.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language. Bilingual a plus.
- Experience using Microsoft Office, Excel, and Outlook. Mid‑level typing skills required.
- Effective communication with all levels of management, employees, residents, family members, and outside contacts.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts (e.g., discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages) and manage revenue and expense budgets.
- Knowledge of current federal and state laws pertaining to Assisted Living and Memory Care communities.
- Able to make independent decisions.
- Must possess a passion to work with and around senior citizens.
Education Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred but not required with appropriate work experience.
- CALM certification is a plus.
Work Experience Requirements
- Strong leadership skills with a minimum of three (3) years’ experience supervising and managing in a related position.
- Three or more years of Senior Living experience and/or training or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Physical Requirements
- Stand and/or walk up to six (6) hours a day and sit up to two (2) hours a day.
- Occasionally support up to 35 pounds.
- Occasionally kneel, bend, and reach.
- Vision abilities include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Subject to infectious diseases, substances, odors, etc. throughout the work day.
