Director of Product Management – Clutch & Brake Division
Reporting to the Senior Director of Product Management for the Clutch & Brake Division, part of the Industrial Powertrain Solutions Segment, the Director of Product Management is a vital and critical role in determining the overall health of the business.
The Clutch & Brake Division’s Electromagnetic Clutch & Brake product lines represent approximately $300M in revenue and include the Warner Electric, Stearns, and Matrix brands. This product family plays a critical role in the Division’s strategic Electrification initiative and serves the Turf & Garden, Mobile Power, Farm & Ag, Robotics and Medical markets.
This position requires close collaboration with cross‑functional teams including product development, sales, marketing, and operations. The ideal candidate is a team player who operates with a global view, can exercise leadership without managerial authority, and thrives in a dynamic, fast‑paced environment. The Director of Product Management will also drive activities focused on maintaining high customer satisfaction and growing market share.
The Director will manage an established team that operates globally and lead the implementation of foundational tools and frameworks such as 80/20 analysis and Product Line Simplification (PLS).
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the entire life cycle of all product lines within the business from strategic planning, product definition, tactical launch activities and end of life.
- Operate as the internal voice of customers across development teams (primarily Engineering, Sales and Marketing).
- Develop and implement cohesive short‑ and long‑term product line roadmaps.
- Implement a robust product line simplification process that delivers cost savings.
- Coordinate and lead ongoing Innovation/VOC exercises and incorporate business case analysis to define product value proposition.
- Define pricing and sales strategy/policies for all products and drive these through the division.
- Maintain expertise in the competitive landscape, including product and pricing strategy.
- Collaborate with other segment and division Product Managers to develop divisional product line development opportunities.
- Analyze potential partner relationships to enhance offerings or fill gaps.
- Perform 80/20 analysis on products, customers and markets.
- Leverage 80/20 and continuous improvement in all aspects of product management and decision making; participate in projects that maximize organizational effectiveness.
- Assist Customer Service and Sales teams with technical support.
- Interface with R&D, engineering, sales, marketing and support teams to ensure revenue and customer satisfaction goals are achieved.

Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in a related engineering field (MBA preferred but not required)
- 5+ years of commercial experience in marketing, product management and/or sales
- Proven people leadership competencies; direct people management experience strongly desired
- Strong negotiation skills
- Ability to lead through influence without direct supervisory authority
- Results‑oriented execution focus
- Significant product management skills – manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines; delegate, set objectives, and measure progress
- Capability for both strategic thinking and tactical execution
- Ability to work in a non‑structured environment while maintaining personal accountability
- Effective communication with customers using appropriate industry terms
- Comfortable making difficult decisions
- Strong internal and external networking ability

Travel
Global travel (up to 50%) required.
Expected Salary
USD $160,000–$188,000 annually. The role is also eligible for select bonus incentive plans.
