Aviata Health Group is searching for an Activity Director to join our resident and family focused community. The primary purpose of this position is to plan, organize, develop, and direct the overall operation of the Activity Department in accordance with federal, state, and local standards, guidelines and regulations and established policies and procedures.

Major Responsibilities

  • Ensure an ongoing program of activities is designed to meet residents’ interests and physical, mental, and psychosocial well‑being based on comprehensive assessment.
  • Conduct and document thorough assessment of each resident’s recreational needs.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans addressing therapeutic recreation programs to meet psychological, physical and social needs of residents.
  • Comply with evaluation, treatment and documentation guidelines.
  • Recruit and hire sufficient qualified recreation staff to deliver appropriate resident care.
  • Assist in developing the recreation budget and ensure adherence to the established budget.
  • Promote the company programs through formal and informal interactions with the community.
  • Arrange for recreation activities outside the facility when needed.
  • Develop and supervise an active volunteer program.
  • Provide innovative and responsible healthcare by creating and implementing new ideas and concepts that continually improve systems and processes to achieve superior results.

Qualifications

  • Licensed or registered in Florida as a therapeutic specialist or activities professional.
  • Bachelor’s degree in therapeutic recreation or equivalent training/experience.
  • Minimum two (2) years of therapeutic recreation experience, including supervision, training or experience in a setting serving the same age/type of residents.
  • At least one (1) year of supervisory experience preferred.
  • Completed a training course approved by the state of Florida.
  • Demonstrated ability to assess resident therapeutic recreation needs and develop/implement a program to meet those needs.
  • Working knowledge of accreditation standards and compliance requirements.
  • Compassionate and dedicated to a job well done.
