General Summary
We are looking for a dynamic and experienced Senior Director of Engineering to lead our IE-IOT Applied AI IoT Team. In this role, you will be responsible for driving the strategic vision, development, and execution of the AI platform and machine learning algorithms that will empower Qualcomm's IoT Product Groups to deliver innovative AI-powered experiences to our IoT customers.
Responsibilities
- You will oversee AI experience on all IE-IOT chipsets for customers.
- In charge of IE-IOT AI end-to-end execution: work with internal Qualcomm teams that provide AI tools for Qualcomm chipsets, the Customer Engineering team who fronts customers' AI needs, the Edge Impulse team that provides the end-to-end AI experience for the developer-first community, CMS/Voice AI teams that provide algorithms, own and drive GenAI deliverables, and the AI HUB team that owns the model onboarding experience for Qualcomm.
- Hire and lead a high-performing global engineering team responsible for the development and optimization of Qualcomm's IE-IOT AI portfolio, including ML algorithms for predictive and generative AI.
- Develop and execute a strategic roadmap for the AI platform, ensuring alignment with company-wide IoT objectives and product group requirements.
- Collaborate cross‑functionally with product, design, and engineering teams to deliver world‑class AI‑powered experiences.
- Drive technical excellence and innovation within the organization, promoting leading‑edge AI and ML technologies and best practices.
- Build a culture of continuous learning and improvement, fostering an environment that encourages experimentation, innovation, and calculated risk‑taking.
- Attract, retain, and develop top engineering talent, providing mentorship, guidance, and career development opportunities.
- Serve as a subject‑matter expert with respect to AI platform, infrastructure and capabilities that can help drive accelerated impact across the company’s IoT business unit using AI.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field and 10+ years of Hardware Engineering, Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related work experience.
- OR Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field and 9+ years of Hardware Engineering, Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related work experience.
- OR PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field and 8+ years of Hardware Engineering, Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related work experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree or PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related technical field.
- 15+ years of experience in software engineering with a focus on AI and machine learning applications.
- 6+ years of experience in a leadership role, managing and scaling engineering teams.
- Proven track record of building and deploying AI platforms and machine learning applications at scale.
- Strong understanding of machine learning frameworks, tools, and technologies, with expertise in at least one major platform.
- Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and staying current with the latest trends and advancements in AI and ML technology.
- 13+ years of experience in software engineering focusing on AI and machine learning applications.
- 4+ years of experience in a leadership role, managing and scaling engineering teams.

Pay Range and Other Compensation & Benefits
- Annual base salary range: $256,000.00 – $384,000.00
- Competitive discretionary bonus program and opportunities for annual RSU grants.
