Role Overview

The Strategic Marketing Director, Private Label is responsible for defining and shaping the strategic product architecture across North America. Reporting directly to the VP Private Label, this role ensures that the Private Label portfolio is optimized for profitable growth, platform leverage, sustainability transition, and long‑term competitive positioning. The position integrates market intelligence, innovation roadmaps, and manufacturing capabilities to drive coherent cross‑regional portfolio strategy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and evolve the strategic portfolio roadmap for the Private Label business across North America.
  • Identify retail trends, white space opportunities, and emerging format and material shifts to shape future platform priorities.
  • Lead value proposition development to ensure portfolio offerings meet evolving retailer expectations and competitive dynamics.
  • Drive cross‑regional platform standardization and specification rationalization to reduce complexity and improve scalability.
  • Influence capital allocation decisions related to product platforms and asset utilization.
  • Partner with Commercial, Finance, R&D, Sustainability, and Manufacturing to ensure portfolio alignment and execution discipline.
  • Champion sustainability‑driven product transitions, including recyclability, PCR integration, and lightweighting initiatives.
  • Develop and execute "seed‑the‑market" and localisation strategies to accelerate adoption of new platforms.
  • Identify and eliminate portfolio complexity that constrains margin performance or operational efficiency.

  • Influences long‑term growth trajectory of Private Label segment.
  • Enables cross‑regional leverage of assets and capabilities.
  • Supports capital discipline through structured portfolio prioritization.

Leadership Scope

  • No direct reports; operates through high‑level matrix influence.
  • Direct engagement with PL VP, Commercial, Manufacturing, R&D & Finance Director.
  • Influences R&D prioritization and innovation pipelines.
  • Coordinates with Commercial and Finance to ensure portfolio viability.
  • Drives alignment across Flexibles & Rigids divisions.

Major Challenges & Complexity

  • Balancing global platform standardization with regional customization needs.
  • Influencing stakeholders without direct authority.
  • Aligning sustainability ambitions with operational and financial feasibility.
  • Managing regulatory complexity across North America.
  • Driving long‑term strategic alignment in a matrixed organization.

What We Want From You

  • Degree required; MBA preferred.
  • 12‑15+ years of progressive leadership experience in Product Management, Commercial, Operations, or R&D leadership.
  • Experience in multinational packaging or adjacent manufacturing industries.
  • Strong analytical acumen, including financial modelling and business case development.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence senior stakeholders and drive alignment at the executive level.
  • Experience operating across multiple regions; North America and EMEA exposure preferred.

This role operates as the strategic architect of the Private Label portfolio, directly influencing product platform direction, innovation priorities, and asset deployment decisions. The Strategic Marketing Director, Private Label materially impacts growth, margin structure, capital allocation, and long‑term enterprise competitiveness.

Salaried Statement

The starting salary for this position is expected to be between $130,000 and $188,000. Base pay offered may vary depending on job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience. The position may also be eligible for Amcor’s Management Incentive Plan / Sales Incentive Plan, which is an annual bonus program based on business and individual performance, as well as medical coverage and other health and welfare benefits.

The salary range reflects the anticipated base pay for this role at the time of posting. This range applies to positions performed in jurisdictions with pay‑transparency requirements, including CA, CO, CT, HI, IL, MD, MA, MN, NV, NJ, NY, RI, VT, WA, and Washington DC, as well as remote roles that may be performed in these locations. Compensation for roles performed outside of these jurisdictions may vary. The Company reserves the right to modify this range at any time.
